I never noticed this option before, but now that I see it..it has me intrigued. Just how much risk of there of data loss? And how much of a performance boost can one expect? This is my RAID 0 setup, just 2 7200 RPM HD's, data is not important...I actually reinstalled tonight so there is nothing on my hard drives except XP x64. Is there increase of data loss only or HD failure? Here is a screenshot (http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h204/OrbitzXT/AdvPerf.jpg)of the option I'm talking of.

I haven't ever used protection and have never had a drive fail. But, I haven't noticed much of an improvement. If you're really interested in drive speed, then just move up to 10krpm drives. There's definatley no software modification substitue for the change in raw power.
Apparently, this feature is not related to any system or 'soft' changes that you make. It's purely in regards to sudden power loss. If you have UPS, then it's not an issue, if you don't (which who does ???) then there's an increased possibility.
