There really aren't any except Half-life series. I'm like you, I want a game with a decent story line, and for that you need to go for an RPG type (be it true RPG, or FPSRPG like Oblivion).

I would say wait for Crysis, but it's a dick to run.

Sure you can play it on lower settings, but it's no fun if the visuals are poo.

One word, STALKER. Be sure to periodically read your PDA, thats where a lot of the story will be found out.

I think you should try either Far Cry as it still holds up and i think its now a free download, great story but has one bad enemy thats mutated monkies given injections to make them mad, this ones the only decent one in the series tho as the console ones suck balls they are racist as they changed one of the main characters to a Caucasian dude from some African American doctor who helps you in the pc game but theres a twist at the end of the game.

or

Oblivion its fantastic will keep you occupied for as long as you play it. Oblivion once youve done the main quest theres knights of the nine and Shivering isle to play and i always love doing the side quests and getting items, its always re playable if you just make a new person.

FarCry is a great game :)

Call of Duty 2 is also pretty good, campaign wise.

2004:

THIEF: DEADLY SHADOWS :rockout: - http://www.eidos.co.uk/gss/thief_ds/

DL the demo if yer interested - TDS demo (http://files.filefront.com/Thief+Deadly+Shadows+Demo/;3090442;/fileinfo.html)

If for nothing else than The Cradle mission - one of the best game missions ever Journey into the Cradle (http://gillen.cream.org/wordpress_html/?page_id=618)

If you do snag a copy, download JohnP's hi-res texture pack for the game, it improves the look of the game even more. http://www.john-p.com/textures/Thief-DS/index.shtml

Out of the trilogy, this one lends itself more to being an arsenal than the older two, but nevertheless . . . if your really like it, snag a cheap copy of Thief: The Metal Age and Thief: The Dark Project. Although those two are vastly outdated graphics wise - they're still well-respected and offer some of the absolute best gameplay from a FPS. And if you really enjoy those - the number of excellent fan missions out there will keep your interest for a good long time.
