View Full Version : looking for a after marke cooler for 8800 gt

Well the reviews I read say that any cooler that fits a 8600 gts will fit a 8800gt. Apparently they tried it and all the thermalrights hr-03 doesn't work and the new Zalman 1000 and the old Zalman vf900 aswell as the fatality version even thoe it's not listed as compatable will work.

Also according to thermalright the Theralmright H0-3 revision A will work on a 8800 gt but they don't recommend it because it only has 4 heapipes. I think see it in action it would be fine it cooled my old x1900 xt without a hitch and that was a hot mother. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109135

the top card is a 7900 gtx the bottom is a 8800 gt . they are similar and any cooler that fits a 7900 gtx should fit a 8800 gt. Like the zalman vf900

warning! Coz 88000GT doesn't have the IHS protection(which G80 have), so pls do not put too much pressure on the core or it will break!]
these all fit, found them on a asian web page mounted on a 8800 gt the thermalright performed the best

whats crazy is it's made for the 7900 gtx and it still very good for this card aswell and beats the Zalman which is brand new.

but the Zalman still kills the stock cooler looks at that chinese review the temps are low even on the VF900 at max overclock the Zalman vf900 is 28 degrees cooler than the stock cooler.

I think leaving my vga block dangling should be ok.. hopfully I wont need to drain my system once I get it up n going.. still waiting on some parts.. 90degree rad fittings more fluid elc. I'll have enough stuff when a shipment comes in nexted wendsday about to fiinish up my build.. but a couple things went out of stock! lol Ncix.ca has been slow lately... took em a week to clear my electronic bill payment! used to be like the same day with nexted day shipping! sigh lol

Looking @ the zalman website this means every cooler made for the 7900 series fits on the G92?
That would be cool, cause this one is made for the 7900s too:
http://www.listan.net/listan.net/index.php?StoryID=72&GroupID=1886&Level1ID=2017&Level2ID=2024&Level3ID=&ArticleID=2483
Just take off the plastic + fan and put on a 120mm yate loon or something and it performs better than a vf900 and quieter.
Wow, i'm really thinking about swapping my 7900gto with 8800gt + a new cooler.

I already have an ND-1 on my 7900GS. It looks like it would fit on the 8800GT. Anybody have any thoughts on whether or not it would fit?

I used this instead of the turbo cooling pack and mounted it with pull ties dead center to save some money. You will also need a few extra ram sinks for the voltage regulators, zalman small size will do. I cover mine with micro cooler heatsinks Plus buy some thermal adhesive the ram heatsinks they give you don't stick worth a crap.

Well it certainly is no Zalman or Thermalright when it comes to looks but what do ya want for 23.00 and it cools better than the Zalman and might even beat a Thermalright. Also for it's size it's light.

Heck even the stock cooler goes higher at default when gaming.
My favorite - the new Arctic Accelero Xtreme (http://www.guru3d.com/article/cooling/487/1)
It can disperse over 200Wt of heat and will do that only for 30 EUR.

I'm sure but doesn't help a 3870 a little too late.
