So Nissan is developing another sports car (http://www.dailytech.com/Nissans+New+GTR+Gets+Help+from+Video+Game+Designer s/article9376.htm), the 2009 GT-R. While it offers quite a lot in the line of horsepower and torque, the consumer must ask, what makes this car better than the others? Nissan is proud to say something along the lines of "why, the paramagnetic (http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071107.009/advanced-paintjob-that-changes-colour-at-the-touch-of-a-button) paint job, of course." For anyone who does not know what a paramagnetic paint job is, it's the best thing since LED rims for anyone who enjoys the exterior look of their car. At the flick of a switch, a driver can choose whether their car is red, blue, pink, black, silver, or any number of colors. There's no word as to how hard it is to make paramagnetic paint, or how much it'll cost.

Someone should mention to the guy who made the first comment that all the next gen GT-Rs planned for production have already been ordered and/or paid for and there is something like a 20,000 premium on some.
I think the paint would be relatively simple but take a long time to apply it compared to a pearl and it will cost more then it's worth. Simple solution to this new ricer fad, just get it black.

first thing that came to my mind was how much more difficult this will make it for police to track criminals and the like since a big thing to go by is car color

lol Nissans new GT-R range IS the next gen Skyline but Nissan decieded to kill off the name to make way for a fresher more younger one, THE GT-R, it is a Skyline chassis, suspension, Brakes, and modest looks (i.e. the boot and nose) but apart from that its a whole new car, The paint is ONLY avaliable on the new pre-ordered cars so we will not ever get one, the GT-R will ship its pre-ordered in late 2009 while the rest of us will have to wait till early to mid 2010

OMG the center console in this car look absolutely hidieous compared to previous versions.
The front is the same also.
No Skyline looked better than the aggressive R34 GT-R.
Scrapped Nissan Silvia/200SX/240SX series which have always been popular.
Get it together Nissan.

i always figured it was a 350z/skyline/G37 (or G37 whatever) chassis, but motortrend alleges that is somewhat handbuilt (not for less than $100k its not) and differs alot from the two cars. if its what nissan says it is, i cant see it being $70k even with a $20k mark-up in todays market. hell the AWD system alone should cost more than a Z06 engine and trans.

i wonder if this is like the paint that actually "heals" itself when scratched. nissan was working on that too.

Yeah, I was about $300 away from having an RB25 swap, then my fiancee fell asleep at the wheel and totaled it. It was my favorite car that I've ever owned. Even with the SOHC KA24, it was a blast to drive. I still tear up just thinking about it. Not even the turboed 7th Gen Celi GT-S that replaced it was as much fun.

plannin on makin it a ka24de-t with a szigen exhaust and a re-circ valve.Well, if I had a 91+, I would've just built a KA24DET, but since mine was a 90 and a single, and required a swap even for just a DOHC KA, I figured I might as well just swap an even better motor in, since I have to go thru with the hassle anyway. And I just didn't want to go with the same ol' SR swap that everyone else was doing.
I'm currently in the market for another one. Just waiting to find "the one", so to speak.

I have a S14 pre-facelift Sivlia.
I regret getting the exhaust, extractors and increased the compression ratio to 12:1 being an NA.
It's so damn barky you'd think a Toyota sprinter is coming down the road.
It's was not what I expected my Silvia to sound like.
Completely Bonkers

Paramagnetic paint job works by applying a current through a polymer coating. Parked, your car will be one color. While driving, the color (shade) could be another. Turn off the engine, it will go back to the original color. Apply the current 24 hours? Forget it, Your battery will be flat in minutes.
Good for advertising though. Or hidden messages that appear/ and disappear, at the flick of a switch.

So when your idling/parked it would not be the same colour you had chosen? or just weaker? I thought it stayed the colour you choose, till you shut off the car.
