A new 3D benchmark focusing on lighting effects and performance, dubbed Lightsmark, has been released for free by Czech software author Stepan Hrbek. This OpenGL 2.0 optimized test runs a flyby scene featuring realtime global illumination, color bleeding, penumbra shadows and displays the average FPS as an end result. The Lightsmark 1.2 supports NVIDIA GeForce 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx (including GeForce Go) and AMD/ATI Radeon 9500-9800, Xxxx, X1xxx, HD2xxx (including Mobility Radeon) graphics cards as well as the professional FireGL and Quadro series.

It seems SLI doesn't helps scores at all. I ran it on my 7600GT rig with and without SLI and the scores were the same.

I posted about this bench like a month ago and people were telling me that its not OpenGL! :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu :shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu

I ran it with Kaspersky running in the background and Utorrent downloading some files. With 1680x1050 resolution i had 209FPS average. Pretty decent when having antivirus and utorrent in background. :) Im satisfied with that..

utorrent is nothing, especially for your CPU, but antivirus can give a good CPU load

yea and he has quad core so i think it was fine seeing how this bench isnt multi threaded

Utorrent doesnt use much cpu, but it does use much memory and IO operations. And kaspersky is known to scan every file that is used so Kaspersky did affect it, that im sure off. I dont know if Utorrent did much to my result. I will test with everything disabled later on, but If the bench is dependant on memory bandwith and IO it has affected the result. But either way, im happy with the result. :)

I'm really waiting to see how my system does with it. :Crossing fingers:

Kaspersky has a built in feature to not do anything on high processor loads. It shouldn't affect any benchmarking and I have it on all the time, gaming or benchmarking. Nothing is worse that virus definitions update, when you are gaming online. I've stopped gaming and seen it start updating after it, so it even works :)

Now to benching, nice to have something more than 3DMark scores to compare when I change to a new GPU adapter.

I think that is dependant which version you got? Bc if I have kaspersky on when gaming I get worse performance, but not in all games, but some. If I turn it off, the performance gets back to normal. So its not completly true.
