Continuing an aggressive campaign to defend his copyrights, pop star Prince is preparing to file lawsuits within the next few days in three countries–including the United States–against The Pirate Bay. Prince will file similar suits against The Pirate Bay in the U.S., France, a country with laws favorable to copyright owners, and Sweden, where The Pirate Bay is based. In addition, Prince is preparing to take civil action against companies that advertise on The Pirate Bay, many of which are headquartered in Israel, according to John Giacobbi, Web Sheriff’s president. Prince has hired Giacobbi and Web Sheriff, a service that protects copyright materials from Internet piracy, to coordinate the legal challenges against The Pirate Bay and others who the singer believes has violated his copyright.

I for one do, and the man is not gay. What a stupid thing to say and completely uncalled for. Its not a total surprise to see the man wanting to protect his intellectual rights and his music.
On a different note, I didnt even know they had his music on there. Id have downloaded it if I knew it ::haha::

You want to know how the Pirate Bay doesn't go away after these attacks.. in Sweden lawsuits like this don't have any grounds. And of course Prince can sue in as many countries as he wants, but those laws don't affect Sweden. It's really very funny.

meh its his business, I think he works for himself or is he working for someone else? its just like if you own a company have patents and someone starts copying your patent.. would you be happy? I know I would prob have people kilt/kill em myself if I was really upset about it.
but yeah I have to agree, he makes enough money anyway and is set for life.. Im sure he prob only loses 1/2 his profits to pirates but still (I dont think he sells to much music anymore anyway).

Maybe, because he knows he is too old and past his hey-day that if he keeps snorting coke and smoking crack then he will eventually not have any money when he is at the 'average' persons retirement age.
thepiratebay has stood up to "Web sheriff" before and may even be in a countersuing lawsuit against them right now for complete disregard of sweden's privacy laws.

dont forget this guy wanted all of his lyics that were posted up on fansites taken off or to face legal action.
how sad is that? thats just like saying, Dont buy my music, Dont sing my tunes & dont even hang my posters up on the wall.
but then again yeah he doesnt care as he is filthy rich but then again look at Micheal Jackson. as rich as he was he is now crawling in debt
Yeah, but MJ F***ed up BIG TIME.
As for Prince, he can go f*** himself. As if he doesn't ALREADY have MILLIONS of dollars at his disposal to do whatever he wants with, now he's gonna sue the pirate bay, which has been attempted multiple times before, and all have failed.

Not only that but they don't actually host any of the material, which is basically an immediate dismisal in Sweden :P

I find it funny that RIAA/WebSheriff and artists even bother to do this. All it does is create more tension, not more money. They're clinging to the old days without wanting to realize that there actually IS a reason as to why they're called "the old days".
Let's face it. The times where people would pay $20 or whatever for a CD that might or might not contain two to three good songs and a number of mediocre ones are long since over.

I have to say the perfect example of this is the new Foo Fighter's album. I'm a huge Foo's fan but this album disappointed me so damn much. I am so glad I didn't buy it at £10.97 when it first came out.

I only liked a few tracks off their new album. seems like their jumping on the bandwagon & 'mellowing' out. im not slagging off people who make acoustic tracks as I love the sound of acoustics but theyve gone soft :( their older stuff was much rockier. I think David.G has hit writers block

Agreed :toast: the only songs i like on there are 'the pretender', 'but honestly' and 'road to ruin', the rest i couldnt listen to more than half of the song as there much softer rock and a complete opposite to there usual stuff

First of all I'm one of the older guys and I still never cared for whats his name, never did like his music, and any pictures I saw of him made me think he was g*y.
He has a signed contract with one of the big companies which is connected with the IRAA, and when you have a contract with a major, your in their pocket and grovel at their feet to be able to make a living. Some times I wish I wasn't so close minded but until i see a shift in the way the industries goes about their business and how they treat consumers so be it. Ask the stars of the 50s and 60s how much they made and what royalties their making now. The same people who signed away their future that after a certain time all royalties would be cut off.The same companies are trying to and succeeding in extending the rights to their music indefinitely with out paying the people who sang and wrote the songs. The industry sucked these stars dry. The only money they make now is doing the retro tours.

I think (though I don't know specifics) the Prince has been solo IE without the backing of a major label for some time, and publishes his own music via his own label.
Remember when he had to change his name to a strange symbol in the 90s? I think it was because whatever record company he had a contract with was screwing him over, and the only way for him to get out from under was to leave his name behind.
Sure, he's a bit strange and silly looking - but most of you idiots who are calling him a fag and whatnot have probably never even listened to his records.
He's probably one of the most underrated guitarists of the last 20 years. He's a pretty fucking sick musician, and I respect that.
And this is coming from an old hardcore/metal guy.
well, he's quite exentric...

well, he's quite egocentric...
He's an idiot who 's let his riches go to his head like some others of his type. He soon forgot the roots from whence he came from. When his label goes after a mother who put a video on you tube of her baby dancing to one of his songs for 20 seconds and its barely audible then he's a sicko if he lets his label do what it did, kind of reminds me how similar he is to the likes of M Jackson. When reality become boring they allow themselves to become twisted. The old adage "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

Prince does a great deal of writing for other artists. Im sure there are songs out there that you guys love that he wrote. I honestly think he has a right to defend his work. Its HIS work. Just because he's rich doesn't mean he shouldn't have rights. Pirate Bay promotes stealing and thats the bottom line.
On a side note I hope hes only sucsessful in getting his music removed for the exact reason IcrushitI stated. I do think record labels have been robbing people for years. Pirate Bay is a good way of "payback" to them. Honestly 20+ bucks for a CD!?!
