I'm looking into getting on of these solely for the ability to monitor temperature and intend on using it for my CPU as the Brisbane's sensors don't work.

Would I be okay attaching it to the bottom of the heatsink? Or should I try attaching it to the side of the chip if it has enough room?

I've had one like it be fore and the sensors all ways end up breaking very easy. you might be able get it close pending if you use a costum cooler on your cpu. It was easier to place in a good place for me when i used the origanel cooler.

i use a TT hardcano12 to measure my temps. for my cpu i have 1 probe taped directly to the backside of the mobo directly behind the cpu skt and the other probe i have mounted (took me a while to get it right) in-between my storm and cpu, this was tricky cuz i had to place the probe in a manner that it would read "accurately" without affecting/interferring with the contact to much.

seems to work well for me.

dont put it between cpu die and heatsink base, it will hurt heat transfer a lot.

you can basically put the sensor at edge of ihs, somewhere on the heatsink or on the back of the mobo. i suggest do whatever is the easiest/most reliable for you to do.

i shouldve added that the tip of the probe is resting on the edge of the IHS between the cpu + w/b as stated by W1zzard
