Best online data upload service?

Hey guys,

Ok I'm doing a build for a professional photographer and I mentioned to her about how I use mozy.com as an online backup service. She loved the idea and wants me to set up something for her to store the majority of her pictures mostly as a long-term backup since the system I'm building her has 2TB :laugh:
So, what do you all recommend as the simplest and most cost effective service for her to use for this purpose?

There is no cost effective service for such data mass AFAIK.

Well, you could rent a server.
But don´t get scared when you read about the monthly fees for a 2-3 TB one...
0,8 TB = 99 EUR / month here.

I suggest NAS with Acronis True Image which would write frequently scheduled incremental images.

hmm theres picasa from google, i believe it lets you upload a gig of pics online.

bqinternet.com is by far the most reliable and affordable service.

dont be fooled by their basic website design. check places like webhostingtalk for more user comments. they use rsync though, not sure how/how well it works on windows

it's going to be used through Vista

that site looks pretty good W1z but I'd just as soon go with NAS if 1TB is going to cost $150 a month

for sure, I just assumed there would be something convenient like that Mozy that's in my sig but isn't just for backup and you can just use it to store tons of data for a decent price

Mozy Pro is only $3.95/month per computer + .50 cents a GB per month. It's probably the cheapest. As you know, is as reliable as can be.
Also has a "burn CD backup" option /weekly, included in that price. So, you don't pay to back up old data.

I'll have to mention that to her but I'm feeling that even that is going to be more costly than it's worth, I'd rather just add enterprise HDs in mirror arrays

My photographer uses an 8tb external mirror array, and he shoots digital w/ a Hasselblad 4x5 so the raw images can be in the 500mb range.

I'll ask him if he uses an online service for backup storage. I believe he does, but it might be local.

big advantage of online backup is that it is much better protection against disaster because its geographically in a different location. with current server prices it may be a choice to just get a colocation offer somewhere where you can put up your own machine.

"For small stuff, i use an online .mac account, for large stuff I store
hot swappable hard drives at another location."

sounds like colocation?
