I always use antivirus, you never know when you're going to click on a rigged E-card link.

Free version of Avast.
Since it's free, it's not worth taking the risk
When I had a Pentium 2 (7 years ago) I didn't use antivirus, and I didn't used to download (pretty slow speed back then!) and no porn either... and I got the Chernobyl virus!

I only use AVG, free and not bad either. lavasoft used to do a free spy-ware called ad-aware witch was another good piece of shareware

Use bitdefender internet securities 2008. Very happy with it, esp the new Game Mode in it for online gaming!

if its a free AV then why not - its not going to cost anything and may still protect you from the baddies

F-secure, you won't notice a virus killer running on modern machines, it's foolish and arrogant to think you don't require one. Even though it has nothing to do I'd better be safe than sorry.
I got a copy of norton corp from my dads work, and it works great. No annoying pop ups, and pretty much self automated. Much lighter on the resources compared to their commercial version.

i dont know how to say this without being insulting so i apologize but its true.
anyone who doesnt use a "good" anti virus is a FOOL who is just asking for an infected system to cause all data to be lost

you may have had viruses all this time too.
viruses dont always disable your computer, the ones "kids" make do that to screw with people.
the worst viruses do there dirty work unseen and steal your credit card and bank account numbers and passwords. many times you find out about them when your credit is ruined or your bank account has been emptied. plus the risk of identity theft is another worry.

don't need it, was using avast on all my systems, never picked up anything, so i ditched it along with a lot of anti-spyware programs. only thing i run is spybot and ccleaner. i have been running that for a while on my 2 vista computers, (64 and 32 bit), but on my server i got avg installed just because it downloads so many things...
