how is teh sound quality?

I don't think I ever saw a big mod scen behind it, o I doub there are alternate OSs or firmwares for it, plus, MS mighta found a way to lock it up good.
Until recently, WiFi was only for sharing music. I think you can update i via WiFi now though, but really can't be sure.
Sound quality is meant to be okay, but I'd take my old Sony, or one of the newer ones, over any Zune/iPod any day for sound quality. I still haven't setup my X-Fi to the right settings jsut yet, so I still gotta say my MP3 player has better audio quality.

You can sync over wifi, but none of that other stuff. The zune firmware is really good anyways.

Not sure about updating without zune software though... why does it matter? If you dont like the Zune software you can use Winamp (Best media player out there). I dont think wireless syncing works with winamp though.

Sound quality is as good as the ipod.

They just updated the firmware to suit the new ones. It's a pretty cool update and I'm loving it.

The sound quality is great. I've had 2 in a month prior to my zune, and the Zune by far was the best. (the two where 1. sandisk sansa E250, 2. Samsung Yp-k3JQR.

I haven't found anything with wifi on it. I don't use it so I haven't played with it...

I don't believe so unless you can somehow deleate the microsoft zune stuff...

I've my Zune for about 3 months now and I love it. Thanks to Random Murderer for telling me to get it instead of a cheap thing again! :roll:

because of the price drop in the US to 199 I got mine... I never wanted a HD MP3 player because of the fact that i saw some guys just restart it self and everything was erased on live tv... So I tried and tried until I gave in

Yeah, it's what peaked my interest in the Zune, the budget pricing, £50 from the US for one, but I'd have to watch for customs and shizzle. It's still around £200 in some places here, what a freakin' rip (or was a while back, when I last checked).

Oh yeah! Completely forgot about rockbox... thought it was only really supported on iPod, a few Samsungs, etc.

it's not officially supported by rockbox, but because it's open source, it will run on anything after a little work. some guy has already done all the work for us and posted it in another forum... hang on, i'll see if i can find it again.

just dont like ipods for the fact they dont support a lot of video and have not that great quality they dont have radio either not sure about the new generation ipods tho

zune seems like it would be good if it was comparable to the creative vision mp3 players then if it were out in the uk id buy one

the creative ones do divx and have radios and have good quality screens
all i want is one with mpg, divx, some other types of video support and a radio wifi seems like a good idea not sure if its only zune and ipod touch that have it tho
