I was looking at the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GH Black Edition. The stock GHz it pretty much the same as the Intel E6750 but the AMD is cheaper (How much can the AMD overclock and the same with the Intel?). I don't know what one would be better for gaming, please help. What would you go with? AMD with a 8800gt GPU or E8750 with a 8800gt? or Maybe I could find a way to go Crossfire?

definetely intel for overclocking, the e6750 can get to at least 3.4GHz on air depending on ur mobo, with an aftermarket coller of course. intel is also the way to go for gaming, it runs cooler stock than the 5000+ and if u ever look at benchmarks(just google e6750 benchmarks)they all point to intel being the better product. as for getting the 8800GT or a crossfire solution go with the 8800GT its goin to require less pwr than the cf configuration and will cost less and the 8800GT will probably run better unless ur gettin HD 3870 but thats around 150-180 bucks more than a single 8800GT.
bottom line get the 8800GT and the e6750

when i said unless ur gettin HD 3870 i meant getting them in crossfire cause by itself the HD3870 it aobut 20-40% slower than the 8800GT depending on the game, also if u can wait the 8800GTS 512MB/1GB is comin out this Dec.3rd, its supposed to run from 299-349 and performance wise is expected to be as good or a little better than the ultra.

Way more potential O/C with the E6750, not to mention it kicks the 5000+ at stock speeds. Definately go with Intel...and this comes from a former AMD fanboy. Intel's product is so much better right now. Also, the 8800gt is the best value in a gpu right now, though I'm holding off on one for a couple of months, waiting for a price drop.

I would go for the E6750 cpu, a X38 mobo and Crossfire 3870's.... :)
But thats just me, In aussie the 3870's are much cheaper than the 8800GT...

Alright I was going to go with the Intel, but I just thought I would ask about the AMD. I might get a GTS depending on how much I can spend. It will be next month sometime. The mobo I am going to get for the Intel is ASUS P5N32-E SLI so it should be pretty good.

yeah deff get the intel, stock for stock the e6750 beats even the Amd x2 6400 black box which runs @ 3.2ghz.. The x2 6400 is most likey faster at floating point/Folding@home, but not gaming.

how much r u willing to spend on ur cpu, cause i would get a quad core, they are as good as dual cores rite now but in future applications they're supposed to be utilized more, the
q660 is my recommendation, but thats 279 at newegg

I would like to get a quad core. But I don't think I could fit it in my budget. I think I will just go with the dual core for now and upgrade to a quad in the sorta near future.
