Hey guys,
Im a little confused about ddr2. I have seen some overclocking projects with dd2 ram (pc3500 an up) but when I looked up the motherboard specs, they said up to 3200+. I have a DFI K8KT800-ALF Pro, its a socket s754 board and is rated for pc3200 ram. Since ddr2 is the same pin, would I be able to use it?

ddr2 is not the same pin count as ddr1
do you mean dual channel?

DDR2-240-pin
DDR-184-pin
Some motherboards can support both with slots for each onboard, but one definitley will not fit in the others slot. They also have different voltage requirements. Just about any DDR should work in your board, and AMD's do not yet support DDR2.

Lol.
Im not confused as to which ram to buy for my system. Im running a matched corsair set, 2x512 pc3200. But take a look at this: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Press/press_header_content_us.jsp?PAGE_TYPE=US&TITLE_ID=6030&LINKED_URL=arch384.jsp&SITE=NA
That board is a 939 board, and in their clocking experiment they say they used pc3500 dd2 ram. The DFI page for that board even says pc3200. This is what got me wondering. Dosnt quite make sense eh?

I do not see anywhere in that article anything about DDR2. PC3500 Kingston is DDR. If it was DDR2, it would say 'PC2-3500'. 939 boards do not support DDR2, AMD is not on that road yet.

I thought pc3200 was the max level for ddr though? I may sound a little bit like a noob here, im just still in the dark on ddr2 and to be honist im not really in the loop for memory advancements :p.

If you'd like to get some more info on DDR2, i have sticky you might want to take a look at. DDR is up to PC-4800(DDR-600) now i believe.
