I got XP Pro x64 now, and the whole operating system is faster. But will my 32-bit programs be any faster at all? I don't use much that comes in 64-bit flavor other than the OS and drivers.

Why? No, it's not faster. You don't use 64-bit apps. do you? Your system doesn't seem to need a 64bit os? So, why are you using a 64 bit os?

Get 2 more gigs of RAM, then the xp pro x64 will be a justifiable upgrade from your previous OS

Running 32-bit programs on a 64-bit OS can be slightly faster. The reason behind this is there are a few places in the actual binary code of programs where a 64-bit OS can direct the computer to execute 2 32-bit instructions side-by-side. But, it is not a large improvement. The other way it can be faster is it is able to address more than 3 gigs of RAM, but you won't see that improvement unless you are running A) >3 gigs of RAM and B) a lot or really memory-intensive programs.
Hopefully that should give you a little information.

depends, photoshop and premiere has 64-bit support so it switches to 64-bit mode when you use them, 32-bit software will work just like in 32-bit xp, there might be some programs that has old 16bit code in them

there is no performace hit running 32-bit software between running them using WOW64 on XP 64-bit or in 32-bit XP

It was "free".
Thanks for the answers though. I don't really even need <2 ram, I don't even use this much... I won't be getting new ram anytime soon.
