OK, I currently have a 1900xt 512Mb and am thinking about upgrading for christmas.

I game at 1920x1200 so would it be best:

1. Sticking with my 1900xt for now.
2. Upgrading to a 3870.
3. Upgrading to a 8800gt.

For heaven's sakes, get out of my head!!!!

I'm torn between selling my 1950xt (which has served admirably) and picking up a 3870 or to wait an get the R700 offering in Q2 08.

Hoping that Zek got my PM.

I'll be interested in hearing what you do.

Sell your 1900XT while you can get some good money out of it, and nab an 8800GT. AMD's price cut for the 3870 is coming, and the new 8800GTS's are coming. Both will bring down the price of the 8800GT sometime soonish either during the holidays or after, so that's your best bet IMO.

3870. Very low power. All the specs you need. Easy to crossfire later.

yea don't get a 3870, though they have all the specs u need, its all paper numbers not benchmark numbers and are only good if u xfire them, but 8800GT is ur best performer out rite now that won't cost u a shit load of money.

if u order now u can get the 8800GT for like 215 with shipping from dell,

Thanks for that link but I'm in the UK not the US and unfortunetly dell doesn't do that sort of offer over here, plus over here the 3870 is cheaper than the 8800gt, dunno if its the other way round over in the states.

Sort of sites i buy from are scan.co.uk, ebuyer.com, overclockers.co.uk, etc. ;)

3870 all the way. Cheaper than the 8800 and not that much of a performance hit.

yeah, 3870 is new and cool, but have you guys seen some of the comparison overclocking-ness thats out there?! The x1950 is mad. Don't forget to be GREEN, lol, the power consumption of 1950 is immense. I'd wait till those even better cards come out. But if you want to sell and make some decent money, probs now. And then buy like a X300 for really cheap to use for a bit so you appreciate how us 'low budget' people feel. LOL.
GL!

i voted for the 8800GT b4 cause it was a better single card than any of those, but now there's not a single reason to get a 3870 since it on newegg and tigerdirect costs 269 the same price as the GT, i guess that's almost as close as u can get to suicide for a gpu company

well that sure is a damn strange thing for ati to do go from 219 to 269 and then cheaper than 219

surplus of stock after christmas = price cuts to shift them (thats if there is such a surplus)

Option 4 (the hidden one) wait till just after christmas and watch prices plummet for the January sales, and buy then ;)

so that would be option 1 - stick with an add on
