Apple Acknowledges Some MacBook Hard Drive Problems

Apple is investigating whether or not faulty Seagate hard drives are to blame for data loss on some MacBooks. Retrodata (http://www.retrodata.eu/index.php/data-recovery/users-of-apple-macbooks.html), a U.K. data recovery firm, reported that certain 2.5-inch Seagate drives used in MacBooks had a manufacturing flaw that causes the drive heads to scratch the surface of the drive and cause major problems. The faulty drives are all Seagate 2.5" Serial ATA drives that are manufactured in China, with a Firmware revision of 7.01. No other drives seem (at this stage) to be affected. If your MacBook has a 7.01, Retrodata advises backing up your data and consider replacing the drive. Apple representative said:We've received a few reports that some MacBook consumer notebooks may have hard drive issues, and we're looking into it.

Did you even read the post and/or source before posting that? It clearly says the seagate drive headers are to blame for this. This is similar to the ATI problem, the drivers were flawed drivers that were fixed. I find it so funny how people blame Apple for these problems, when clearly it is the manufacturer or the developer that is too lazy to make things work on a Mac because they are used to Apple products.

It's not about WHO is at fault................. It's about whenever a problem like this happens to a Windows PC, the Apple cult adds it to their arsenal of reasons 'Why windows sucks'. Then Apple itself touts "So many problems with PC!" and "Since Apple has full control over hardware, you never have problems".

The only thing I've ever heard anyone (who uses Apple) talk about concerning a Windows based PC is the OS itself, not the hardware. :toast:

EDIT: It will be flawlessly integrated, more so than you've ever experienced, if the manufacture creates a flawless reliable product. ;) Your blaming Apple for Seagate making faulty HDs.

Every company says such things about themselves. They're all market leaders and offer the best products in some way or another. This goes for any industry.
