Vote what you think about this if your a U.S. citizen

Hey guys Im busy writing a research paper of my choice that has to be an argumentative view of me supporting only a certain side. The topic I chose is titled : All current territories in the U.S. should become a state or be Annexed"

I would prefer it if people don't lambast me for choosing that side but I would appreciate it if you gave me your opinion of it in addition to voting your choice. I just need to state some of the other opinions of other people and how I either agree with them or disagree with them. Thanks for all your time. I thought that this would be an interesting topic since it would potentially involve hundreds of thousands of peoples lives and how it would then cause changes in the economy including the TAXES ECONOMY.

I think we should leave annexation or statehood up to the representative populations of the various territories (mostly islands).

Many of them are of strategic military importance. I think giving the territories soverienty over their own land and government, showing them that we do not have a land-grabbing, expansionist type of mindset, covering them with a military blanket of protection and assisting in their economic development makes them much less likely to go "rogue".

Oh I see what your saying I wasn't trying to be so dramatic like the poll suggests but I just wanted to keep it nice and short. Of course i AGREE that the territories should decide, but at the same time something needs to be done about them I will post a link shortly that helps to explain myh point further. But foir instance islands like Midway I would think should be annexed while others should decide right now whether they want to become a state or if they want to become their own country, enough is enough with them (mainly Peurto Rico) voting to keep it like it is because personally I either want them to start foooorming their own country and pay their own taxes or become a state and pay our government the taxes that are due
