Visiontek X2600 Pro 256MB, EVGA 8600GT 512MB or EVGA 8600GTS 256MB. Which one should I use for HD playback? Help.
All of the above I got it on BF sale.
I got the LG HD-DVD/BLU-Ray drive which was delivered today. So want to decide on which VC to put in tonight.
My System:
Gigabyte K8N-SLI (S939)
X3800 @2.2G
2GB GSkill Ram
Sapphire 550Pro TV Tuner
VisionTek 650 Pro HD Tuner Card
Maxtor 250GB IDE
WD 400G SATA to be added.
Ultra 400W PSU.
Any suggesstions will be most welcome.

Doesn't the 2600 come with UVD? If so, use that. (Compounded by the difference in IQ on ATI cards)

mmm... make sure to get 512mb or more, thats a big display.

I wouldn't think it should. You are only trying to output a 1920X1080p @ 24 or 50/60 FPS. Heck, my 1950XT can so that all day long!
What software are you using for playback?

PowerDVD Ultra that comes with the Drive.

What software are you using for playback?
I read somewhere some games look better on 512MB than 256MB. I don't think Video proccessing needs that much ram.

Kewl. Just make sure you check for patches. They have some for HD palyback acceleration and payback off hard drive (if you're into that!;))

Agreed.
Just make sure you check CyberLink for patches. Some for HD playback acceleration and some for hard drive playback (if you're into that kind of thing!;))
