Most people who have destroyed the cards have flashed a 4870 with a normal 64KB BIOS, but due to the GDDR5, the BIOS is now 128KB so that is the problem, I think there is a guide on here about how to recover if you have that problem, the 4850 is NOT affected by that.
Ahhh ok well maybe when I get my EK water block in for this card I will crank up the ocs. For now the max ccc oc is fine with stock cooler.

Riva tuner i dont really like it as much cause it doesnt have temp monitor and you cant alter the fan settings that much. I have a 2900xt. Windows Vista not 64 bit tho.
SO why wont it clock! WHY GOD WHY!

"the kernel mode driver does not seem to be running.
a device driver is required for communication to your video hardware.
if you just upgraded from an older version it may help to uninstall ati tool, reboot and the install the new version."
So i supose its down to the kernel business thats stopping me, turns out even the rivaTuner doesnt even clock the card ffs :/ well atleast i dont think it does when i check the clocks and stuff through rivatuner :/

Hello everyone, im not sure if its right place to write but i have serious problem and i have no idea who can help me. im using ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, Windows xp, 2gb ram, dual core 2.33 ghz.
when i play some games my computer will shut down. i experienced this when playing assasins creed, race driver grid - the graphics looks perfect, no lag, everything works fine and after ~10 minutes of play computer shuts down... i guess thats something with graphics card overheating. i downloaded that program in the first page of this thread, and when i run it, it shows that temperature goes over 100 degrees Celcium and when i put core and memory lines almost to the very botton, the temperature still keeps around ~70 degrees Celcium... please help me i have no idea what to do to stop my computer shut down during playing games...
by the way, other games like counter strike, lineage 2, battlefield 2, nfs pro street and other work fine...
can you help me?

The games that do work dont need alot of GFX power. Assassins creed and grid are different story unless u can keep ur card cool to oc when playing those high spec games sadly your going to have to keep it at a low clock for them. In my opinion :P

The current beta does this already...
It is hardly current
I dont mean to gripe but I haunt these forums and Guru3d religeously every day.... recently made myself known on G3d and now here today after years.... This project seems dead....there hasnt been so much as a peep from the dev in ages -Heres the exact date of the B3 release for those who dont wanna pop back 20+ pages 11-28-2007 at 05:20 AM-.... I dont wanna sound ungrateful or demanding I really dont... but I'm starting to think that this project -as sad as it makes me feel cuz i LOVE this tool- is dying. Riva tuner as well. At no time in the past that I can think of did evolution come at this pace and with no updates
On that foot I would be HONORED and privlidged if there was anythin I, and I'm sure all of you, could do to help get this ball rolling again. AMD has their own clock tool out and its weak and bland at best! Surely the mind-s- that put together this excellent peice of software and rivatuner can outmatch an oem offering. Thats not bait, just fact! How quickly the x64 driver barrier was crushed.... and then nothing...
I miss ATi Tool.... Theres something missing on my USB Toolz drive without it....

So, any idea when Radeon HD4000 series will be supported?
I tried latest beta with my HD4850 and Catalyst 8.7, however when I tried to set clock settings, they reseted back to zero and nothing happened.
When I tried to find optimal clock settings, I got BSOD.
EDIT: Should have read the first post through, there hasn't been activity for ages..

Overclock of my HD 3650 on stock cooling (Thermaltake about $30).
Original clock was: Core: 722MHz and System: 396MHz
GPU-Z Validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/6c92r/
*[EDIT] Picture shows 400MHz System Clock, GPU-Z Validation shows 450MHz System Clock. It's safe to say that a 722/396 jump to 837/450 is a safe and stable leap on the HD 3650.

ATi TreY Tools already support overclocking and overvolting by software, but all other features completelly mocked up my entire settings, switching back Box filter instead Edge Detect etc. But i could get insanely high clocks with it. Honestly i only need good overclocking tool. I do everything else with CCC. SO i don't need stuff that comes with ATT and just causes problems all the way...

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but will a version of ATITools that supports the 48xx series be released soon?
I've used ATITools so far but now can't due to its lack of support for these new series, and would be glad if a new version were to be released...

but is this the best place to be for ati tool support and beta's??
is this where wizzard hangs out??
after a lot of testing with ati tray tools ccc & ati tool I have finally come to the conclusion that I get the best performance/fps compatibility with ccc & ati tool. But I just with there was a way we or something I could do to help wizzard to be able to spend more time on ati tool. I am not complainimg at all this tool is awesome and does not install unneeded programs registry entries
thanks guys

I would think this would be a yes because just like with att if ati hotkeypoller is enabled then it will interfere with overclocking especially in 3d mode and affect auto 2D/3D overclocking?? am I right on this?? disable ati hotkeypoller ??

when you disable the hotkey poller, ATI CCC Overclocking is disabled.

As seen here, he is working on ATITool.
I think -hope- that he will release the tool at December :D. The second year of latest stable release.
BTW it is really very hard to keep up with those new cards. Look, even the drivers are coming after cards.

My 2900pro was overclocking fine until one day I went to crank it up for a game and it wouldn't budge from stock settings. ATITool can still control the fan, but I can't load any overclocks or change the clocks at all.
After numerous uninstalls and reinstalls of .26 and the various .27 betas, I am now wondering if updating the 2900 drivers at some point did it. I haven't tried going back a few versions yet.

Hello,
Can we PLEASE get a post here from W1zzard or a moderator or somethin? Its been an incredibly long time since the last post from anyone other that a board member. I'm not asking to post an update or anythin if theres nothing....theres nothin. But a simple "hello" or even a shut the F up would be grand at this point. Theres upteen pages of confusion since the last offical post \ update and its kinda rediculous at this point. I reall REALLY dont mean to bash or be a dick or anythin but its frustrating to come here each day hoping for a miracle and to find nothin. Any other board woulda been closed by now or at the very least considered dead and archived by now. 50% of us at least cant even use this tool any more cuz of incompatabilities with new cards and or drivers.... I really dont want to think this wonderful tool is dead and I have heard whispers in the dark that somethin IS coming.... but hope runs out...
Please... if its dead.... just tell us... if thats not the case -and i REALLY hope it isnt- how about a hello? a dot? an STFU?
Again VERY sorry to come here and bitch in yer thread... its not my intention.... I'm just a huge fan of this tool, its quite simply the best and i have not been able to find a suitable replacement for it....

Though I posted that I am having this problem in a separate thread, I wanted to post here to see if anybody had a similar problem, or knew how to fix it.
I'm currently running a Mobility Radeon HD 2600 (512 mb) on my Laptop. The cores are showing as 445 GPU Core Clock and 346 GPU Memory clock. These don't sound particularly right for a core clock that's advertised as 600 MHz.
Anyway, the issue I'm having is that I attempt to move the slider up to increase the core clock, and it simply reverts back to its original position. When I attempt to move the Memory clock, it informs me that Memory overclocking is not supported on this device.
Any ideas? :banghead:

I have the same problem with Vista Ultimate 64bit, for now I am using the AMD GPU Clock Tool to set the clocks and the ATI Tool to check for artifacts.
Have a shortcut in the Startup folder so that it loads when windows opens:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\AMD GPU Clock Tool\AMDGPUClockTool.exe" -eng=763 -mem=486
Not brilliant but at least it works, for me anyway!!

I'm using vista 64 bit with an EVGA 8800GT SSC. It won't load a core or memory (default is 0.00/0.00, and both the core/memory slot is 0.00/0.00). I've tried to "set clock" after doing a find max core, and nothing changes via gpu-z.
So I suppose it doesn't work with my card/OS, I'd love to see a release but it's not necessary. I'll just keep using precision tool to adjust, and atitool to find artifacts.

I didn't read every post, sorry. But is there any solution for saving voltages in profiles? Exept this little problem Ati Tool runs very well on my PC. OC, switching profiles, changing voltages manually, everything ok.

The ATI tool 0.27 is working fine for me except of one thing: It stores the 850 Mhz for the core in the profile, but when I load that profile, the setting is set back to 837 Mhz. I know that the tool often goes down to a suiteable value if needed, but normally the one that can be SET is also be able to be stored in the profile and being set again by loading that profile. So the 850 Mhz core is the only setting I must set manually every time bacause the profile that stored the 850 Mhz sets 837 Mhz instead. The graphics card (ATI mobility Radeon 2600 XT) however runs very well with the 850 Mhz core clock. Am I doing something wrong perhaps?

Thank you for making this great tool for us.
I have used ATITool 0.27 beta3 and had great experience. But I had few glitches to report also.
My System is MS Windows Vista Home SP1 with latest patches. VGA is ATI HD 3850 with latest ATI driver. Vista User Access Control (UAC) is turned ON. I have three problems to report.
1. When I use ATI Tool, I got strange error message "MapFile1: Access denied" from time to time. The error message pops up when I click web link and pops up web browser or viewing Windows Help file. If I turn off ATI Tool, the message never pops up. I have searched my local disks for file named "Mapfil1", but found nothing. This happens only when 3D detection feature is turned ON.
2. Every time ATI Tool is launched at Windows startup time, it is blocked by Windows Defender (Vista security monitor) and I have to manually accept it. I can't persuade Windows defender to accep/ignore this ATITool. If I turn off UAC, it is no longer blocked.
3. Some long text or fields in option setting dialog panels are obscured by by panel boundary. Please widen horizontal width of ATITools setting panel.

This is simple feature request.
Please add command line options for setting core clock and memory and option to load specific name profile. And option print current setting of core clock, memory clock and GPU temperature, fan speed, GPU load percent.
Ex) C:\> ATITool -eng=600 -mem=700
C:\> ATITool -load="My profile"
C> ATITool -status
Core clock = 600 MHz
Memory clock = 700 MHz
GPU temperature = 52 C (130 F)
Fan speed = 1500 rpm
GPU Load = 25%
......
Command line option would be simple and handy tool.

System: Windows Vista Home x86 version with latest patch.
CPU: Intel Core2 E4100 RAM: 3GB
VGA: ATI HD 3850 with latest ATI driver.
Game: Medieval Total War II with latest patch (v1.2)
While ATI Tool is active and 3D detection is turned ON, the MTW2 game refuse to start properly and hang. Just hangs (no response from game) with rotating sand clock cursor.
VGA Clock/configuration is set to default. No tweak or over-clocking. Default configuration.
If I exit the ATI Tool in tray or turns off the 3D detection feature, the game start well without any problem.
The 3D detection feature itself seems to be not working well in Vista. Even if it does not cause hang in other 3D games, ATITool can not detect the 3D game and change config/profile automatically. I have to manually set 3D game configuration.

It is the same problem with GT Legend. If you see the sand clock rotating, press the RETURN key. Then the game goes on starting!
