I'm looking to replace my ASUS P4B533-E (it doesn't have PCI-e slots). That's all I'm really willing to replace though...I want to keep my RAM and my IDE drives. Any upgrade suggestions?
why replace such a old mobo?
is it dying/dead?

Because it's old. It only has AGP and PCI slots, as well as 2 of 3 DIMMS that only take single sided RAM.

If your'e wanting a 478 motherboard with a PCI-E interface without having to change all of your hard ware except your GPU then here's six boards.
http://www.albatron.com.tw/English/product/mb/pro_list.asp?cpu=0&cpuna=Other&other=1&skt=478
The top six are 478 PCI-E but I think it maybe difficult to pick one up.
I don't know anything about thier quality and I generally don't go near Albatron.

the only real reason i want a socket 478 is because i have a crapload of pent IV HT's lying aorund. i thiink i may just go to another type altogether and buy a new CPU.

Put them over in the buy/sell/trade forum and buy yourself a nice system. ALLEN

But if your not made of money, the cheapest viable option in my opinion is to sell your motherboard and ram (remembering DDR ram can fetch more than DDR2 on e bay), keep your CPU, buy a S775 motherboard, I would suggest the 650i chipset because it's fast, pretty cheap and supports upto 4 IDE devices and some cheap DDR2 800.
