I just bought the game, and everytime I try and play in a server, after about a minute I get kicked with this message:
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/m3lisk/BF22007-12-0915-19-31-78.jpg
I've updated punkbuster and everything, and I still can't figure out how to stop getting this error. Any help?

Check your "services"."Pnkbstra" and "pnkbstrb" both have to have started for new punkbuster to work. Real PITA.

Uninstall and reinstall the punkbuster services.
(And if you fancy owning in the heli on BF2, add xxxjiggabobxxx on xfire ;))

Control panel->administrative tools->services. Find the two services listed above and check that they`ve both "started" and they`re both set to automatic

M3 are you trying to use a widescreen resolution by adding commands to the shortcut? PB eventually gave me a bad time in BF2 due to running 1440x900...I removed the extra commands from the shortcut, played a couple of rounds, put it back, and my PB issues were solved.
Hope that helps! :toast:
Using the widecreen code on the shortcut does not kick you. It will kick you only if you change the FOV in one of the settings file.

Well it used to kick me...I had PB issues, installed, uninstalled PB, the game etc..but i saved that command in the shortcut. I removed the widescreen command from the shortcut, the game ran fine...I played a few rounds with my clan and decided to try and make it work again. Put the command back in and sure enough, I've been fine ever since.
Hard to explain why that happened, but since I experienced it...I don't jump to the conclusion that PB won't catch it and kick you for it...since it happened to me. I did not touch the FOV file as I knew that was a given for the PB to kick.
Just figured it was worth a shot since it fixed my issue which was pretty much the same problem with no other solution fixing it aside from what I just detailed above.

I run the widescreen code, and never got kicked by it. This is also confirmed by the widescreengamingforum that change it is PB safe, but they have found out that change FOV is not.

Thanks everyone. I managed to get it working. I ended up deleting the PnkBstrK.sys and restarting, and now if works fine. Dunno how, but w/e. :D
Oh, how do I change to 1440x900?

I have used it for quite a while...like I said I had tried everything else...but removing it and playing the game for a while and adding it back in seemed to fix my problem, and I will never mess with FOV as I was aware of that before installing the game in the first place. But that's why we have different experiences by different users. It's nice to have different opinions and experiences, as no one solution can fix every similar problem on every system.
