okay when I had a e6850 I could run my ram at DD1266 or higher and my cpu at 4.3.ghz+ but with my quad my max OC is 3.2ghz (not bad ) but my ram will only reach DDR900 or so and the highest it will go with the quad for everyday use is DDR1066. Is this motherboard related? why do you think my ram won't go as high with a quad.

IMO because the Q6600 you're using has a FSB of 1066 MHz , the E6850 has a FSB 1333 MHz.
You can very much take the memory speed beyond 1066 MHz provided you increase the memory timings. Could be motherboard related too, try updating your BIOS.

I have the newest bios and the 1066 fsb has nothing to do with it that i know.

Then try to loosening the memory timings a little, like 5-5-5-18 and then step-up the FSB, that is, it the FSB is is synchronously increased with the mem speed.

tried won't work. On the dual core yes it does work but on the quad no luck , also you might be right on the fsb thing the more I think about it.

Try a different strap, try running memory @ ddr 800 strap and upping fsb, If that dont work try 667 somethings not right 6600 go should do more and memory also, you got mch voltages up? ALLEN

Have tried that even dropped it to 600 and worked up won't go higher then ddr1066 a using 8 multiplier, not sure why think it's a bios issue with the quad.Micron D7 chips I think. okay now for some reason I'm stable at 8x 444= 3.520ghz DDR 1100 at 2.35v . It seem like its motherboard related with this chip. I have to find the exact right combo. I'm trying 2.25v now with easy tune. Well now it working strange.

make sure pci/e is 101/105/110/115 anything but auto. My best clocks (most stable) were at 9x multi x 395. ALLEN
