I am about to get a new laptop and there are alot of good deals out there,I would like to get a centrino c2d or turion 64 x2 and I want portable one with decent battery life. The last one i got was a 15.4 amd 64 @2.2 ghz that only gets about an hour on battery.looking at toshiba and acer both have big hdd 2 gig ram and on board gpu 6100 nvidia and intel 3100
not buying it to game so thats not an issue. I am open to suggestions if anyone knows of a pc with these specs that gets 2 hours battery time smaller than 14 inch screen is cool to.

well definitely go with a 14.1 inch if you aren't worried about gaming as you'll get better battery life and it'll be much more portable

do you care about looks?

I read some were that toshiba add bloatware to the OS and if you try uninstall it it messes up the OS. Not all that sure about it but i would check there forums about it if they have any that is.

All so my bro got one not to long ago a DELL with a nvidia 3500M FX and is having a real hard time in finding upto date drivers for it. Even nvidia's site don't have any :|.

Go with ASUS. They just released a 14.1in laptop with an 8600M GT. Not sure about availability, but it's something worth looking into. Any Santa Rosa with an upgraded battery will get great battery life. My Dell laptop with the bigger battery, although it sticks out the back, gets me about 5 hours. The only reason I went with Dell was because I was able to build basically the best laptop back in August for 1,200 bucks because of all their promotions. I'm happy with it, but my friend went with ASUS, and it's really nice.

With Toshiba, another one of my friends got one, and he's always complaining about it. The model he has is a newer C2D model, not sure what exact name, but the cooling fans and exhaust are all on the bottom of the laptop. He always has problems with overheating if there isn't enough room on the bottom. They've probably already fixed that, or it might not matter to you, but it's still something to check out.
