Hello,

I've just bought a Thermaltake Big water 735 CL-W0075.

I have an Intel Celeron 2.8ghz socket 478, I watched an installation demo on youtube before I bought it but when it arrived the shop I bought it from said it will not be able to be installed on my socket 478.

It says the waterblock will fit Intel P4 socket LGA775, on some reviews I've read Socket LGA775/478.

I know this sounds daft but does that mean that the 775 is the same as the 478?

I really want to install this water kit but I really don't want to damage my processor.

Please can someone clear this up for me.

Thank you!

Well dude, I say... If it fits, it fits. I've seen a few socket 478's, only in dells though. I know 775 has the 4 holes at the corners of the CPU, the only 478's I've seen were clip-on's, like AM2 somewhat. If there is an adapter that will clip or screw into your 478, then I guess will fit. But if the "box" says only 775, then your screwed.

I think you can make it fit, I used to have a thermaltake water setup, it's a good start. you might have to use your imagination to make it fit though. but if you cant all you'll need to do is buy a new water block, if you want a budget waterblock I suggest www.koolance.com chape and good performance.

Hello,

Thank you for your replies guys!

I watched a demo of an installation on you tube and he installed the water block on a socket 478.

The only reason I was worried is because of the contact between the processor and the water block. On the demo I watched the guy had a waterblock that had a rectangular bottom but the waterblock I got with my kit has a round bottom?

If I can get the waterblock to fit (which I think I will be able to) will it be ok to install the block with circular contact part on it?

Cheers guys!

(sorry to sound a bit daft, I'm a wee bit new to water cooling and I have'nt even changed a heat sink before)

Ey up guys!!

Just to let you know, I have succesfully installed my Thermaltake Big Water 735 on my Socket 478 motherboard! I had absolutely no problems what so ever!

All the brackets fitted perfectly and the water block went on without a problem!

Now all I have to do is overclock the Sh*t out of it!!

Cheers guys!!!
