Any suggestions why when overclocking the 1900XT using ATI Tool my 3D Mark 06 score ends up lower?

Random I know

Is it something I'm overlooking in the program?

If you OC to far it will overheat then reset to default. I had the same problem with X1900XTX. Take it up in steps and make sure you set fan controll to 100% full on first.

Not that high?

Increase in memory speed = Increase in latency = Decrease in bandwidth

Increase in temperature = Increase in resistance

If you overclock too far with ATI cards, then the score goes down, back it down a bit and you will see higher results.

And there's me thinking by OCing my card I might improve my bench results

I.e. as I OC the card the average FPS using the 3D model within ATI Tool increases as you would expect, but 3D mark shows the opposite effect?

I'm not doubting you're rationale, frankly I would have to light up a fat one and have a think about it before I could.

*Am I being thick?

*I'm a big boy, I can take it.

Thanks for you're input dude.

Cheers dude,

I'm not convinced that I'm over clocking too far, no artifacting during testing.

Right, your thread title makes no sense at all. Make up a better one next time.
