Hi,
Could I safely overclock my card using the standard nVIDIA overclocking tool (the one that came with the card) to 6800 Ultra speeds using stock cooling? (I dont want to void the warranty as the card is new)

The full specs of my PC are:

CPU: Pentium 4 3.20E Prescott HT (Cooler Master Aero 4 Lite with Arctic Silver 5)
MoBo: Gigabyte Titan 8S655FX 800FSB
Graphics: Club 3D nVIDIA GeFORCE 6800GT 256MB 8x AGP (350/1000)
HDD: 120GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 8MB Cache 7200rpm (Vantec Dual HDD Fans)
Ram: Geil Value 1Gb PC3200 Dual Channel DDR400 (Aluminium Heatspreaders)
PSU: Silent 600W Ez Cool (12cm Fan)
Case: Aerocool 3-D Magic (Black) (2x 12cm Front & Side Fans, 2x 8cm Rear Fans)

So I think the air flow is ok around the card :)

Do you think it would allow the overclock to 400/1100 ????

Sure, just make sure the temps don't get too high. with a crap cooler 70 celsisus seems normal, I wouldn't let it run any hotter though. If it does run hotter consider upgrading the cooler.

Thx m8, I will give it a try :) I can monitor the GPU temp but is it possible to monitor the memorys temp???

I used to run my GT @ ultra speeds with stock cooling, 80c was the max it went to. I went for an arctic silencer and dropped the temps a fair bit now sits 58C idle 68C load. fair difference for not alot of cash 17 gbp and fitting was easy as well.

definatly worth it.

Gerry.

I just ran the automatic detection on the overclocking program and it came back with GPU 384 MHz / Mem 1.06 GHz so should I run the card at these settings for a while and then check the temp?

yeah I would, just to keep an eye on it, dont let it go too high, don't wanna fry your card lol.
