I have an AMD 5200+ with the stock cooler... at 1.3v 2.65GHz, it loads around 55C (coretemp).

What kind of a temp drop can I expect if I used AS5 themal paste on it?

Im not sure with a stock cooler but when I had 5200+ with a 3rd party copper cooler my temps where 28 idle and 35 loading using AS5

You sure about that? Those temps seem almost unrealistic, unless you are talking about water or something

the 5200+ doesnt run as hot as my current 6400+ which idles 38
but then again i dont remember if those temps where from overclocked or not and what volts =/

It seems reasonable, I've had AMD chips that run cool and hot. Hat, I would expect a 4c drop after break-in. I started using MX-2 a month ago, and I have to say it's as good as AS5 but the results are immediate!

If you're using the same stock cooler with just a change of paste, AS5, you can't expect the temperatures to drop by more than 3 C. That's 52 C is what you'll at the most end up with.
