Sorry for the size, but I hope you can help. I've just switched to C2D (yay!), and have made my first stumbling steps into overclocking this platform. As you see from my specs I'm running a E6750 on an Asus P5K.
I have it running at 3.2ghz (400*8) Ram 1:1 at DDR2 800 2.1v, CPU voltage on Auto.
I have downloaded 3 apps to monitor core temps, CoreTemp, Speedfan and Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool. Speedfan isn't in the screenshot, but it reads about the same as TAT, but as you see, Coretemp shows a much higher figure....
Which should I believe? Don't want to fry my new baby, LOL

core temp is correct.only core temp 095.4 shows the correct temp because of the 6750's G0 stepping.Others report 15c too low.
I have mine at 3.6ghz with 1.41vcore,i have had it upto 1.6vcore at 4ghz(500fsb) with a freezer 7 pro.
I would'nt go much over 65c max,tho i believe G0's can go upto 70c max.

Oh bugger, and I thought it was running so cool, LOL! So I'd best not go any further unless I get a better cooler then I suppose....Thanks for the info bud.

What cooler have you got on it?
My max at 3.6ghz/1.41vcore is about high 50's,idle about 29-33c(ambient is cool atm) unless i have the heating turned up too high, damn cold ass gf :(

LOL, get her to hoover faster then! I've only just bought the mobo/ram/cpu, so its on the stock Intel cooler, I'll have to wait till after Christmas to get anything better, can't face the shops today!

That made me laugh
Get an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro like tigger when you do go for another cooler.

freezer 7 is cheap, but quite powerful and quiet too. I'll give it a good vote too.
That said, i have two G0's here and built a lot of those systems lately, 70C is fine for a load temp. Lower will live longer, but i have even seen 90C run on a quad core, where the stock cooler had a broken clip and two cores overheated massively (cores 1+2 btw, so they were definately in use at the time)
keep load under 70C coretemp, and everything will be peachy :)

Ah, thats good news, cheers. Yeah, I'll try and find one of those then, about £18 over here. I must say I'm impressed with this C2D malarky, at stock it beats my old Opty 165 @2.7ghz in 3d05 by 500 points!

wait til you overclock it - if you can manage a 1:1 ratio with the ram, things start to really pick up.

Oops, forgot to give thanks for those who helped me....corrected! Now running 3.2ghz with a max on either core of 62c by fixing the vcore at 1.375v (was on auto before).
Waiting for the shops to reopen to pick up a Freezer Pro 7, have read the reviews and am impressed!

Yes...and if you can....lap it...the bases tend to be horrible. You will lose a good amount of heat if you do lap it;)

Yeah, I read about the finish in the reviews, but even with the surface the results looked impressive. I don't have OCD when it comes to cooling, as long as I get a decent drop in temps I'll be happy, LOL.
Btw, your going to love C2D after AMD (I see from your specs you are making the move too), I am well chuffed with the improvement in overall smoothness and lack of hitches in games. In ain't just the increase in FPS, they just feel so much better!

Hi everyone. I'm a bit confused. Everybody seems to be recommending the Arctic Freezer 7 pro but reviews i have read show that this cooler isn't really anything worth talking about... i mean ok it does cool better than stock. BUT
(taken from pureoverclock.com reviews)
"This cooler is not really designed with overclocking in mind"
the cooler manages to keep a stock x6800 at 51 *C at 12V full fan speed with a noise level 47.8db. So ok, maybe this is better than stock, but compared with other popular heatsinks it doesn't quite seem so appealing....
Is there something i'm missunderstanding or is it just me that doesn't find these temperatures too exciting ?
peez :pimp:

There are better HSFs around sure, but for the price a 16c drop on an overclocked system (in one of the reviews I read) sounds pretty decent. Its only about £16 don't forget.

snap: its cheap :)
people with that cooler arent after maximum overclock, just lower temps at the OC they already have.

thermalrite 120 ultra. great cooler and it's only like 60 bucks. some compare them so mid grade watercooling setups.

Urbklr: you have to keep in mind, that you already have a cool running chip. Throw a quad core on that and see how cool it is ;)

The freezer 7 is great if your not after max oc's,not everybody is.If you need higher oc's then get a thermalright 120 extreme, simple. :)

Yes....but a thermalright will cost you 60 bucks...then a fan:p....Freezer will cost you 20 bucks...and you can get quite a oc outa the freezer(with a dual-core:p). At least thats what ive read and such....parts come in soon, ill find out. But still, 20 bucks vs 65+....
PS:im cheap:(
