Hello everyone, I found this site when I was looking for some guides on byoc and have decided to give it a try and I was wanted some advice on what I was about to buy.

I already have a case to use(P180) and was planning on going with an AMD setup but Fry's electronics is having a deal for new years right now for

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135066

both for 278 and was wondering if thats a good deal?Is that a decent MB?

and what else I plan on buying

Video card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082

PSU - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103941

RAM - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220144

They give you the mobo because its crap. Only HIGH end ecs are good. so i wouldn't use the motherboard.

The graphics, i would either go with the new (92) based gts or the 8800gt

the ram i would get this

it oc like a mad house ;)

psu, your fine on that. but the mobo ecs are just not good.

and is it a quad intel?

Well that stinks lol, I had an 800 dollar limit and what you listed is above that so I guess I need to start counting my pennies! I kind of figured that motherboard was crap but thought it could get me by. Thanks for the reply! The system you picked is what I will be saving my money for now. But be prepared for all my dumb questions when I get all the parts and start to build lol.

Actually, the chipset on the motherboard is decent, but the brand I would stay away from.

If you really want 610i/630i based, try this one out:

EDIT: I say it time and again, most important parts of your rig are motherboard and power supply. Those in conjunction can make the whole thing run like sh*t or stable 24/7.

Go ahead buy it. I just bought a AMD 4800+ECS combo from Frys and it does what it promises to do. Far better then Gigabyte highend SLI board that busted in 2 months. And don't forget to get the extended warranty for both. Frys is very good at exchange. Just go and pesture them and u will get a new set. I have done that twice.

If you are not planning to overclock then you can buy board and use it for a while. If it acts up and if you are lucky Frys don't have that board anymore they will upgrade you. You need to pay the difference.

Why get a GTS when the GT is twice as good and cheaper. I would get a HD 3850 512mb and save some moneys tho :) Everything else looks nice tho.

I think he is referring to the g92(512mb) architecture rather than the old g80 (320mb/640mb). The g92 posts slightly better numbers, but has a better cooler on it, you're right however in that the old g80 cores are weak compared to the new cards.
