Remove a stick of RAM to see if it'll post that way...I know it's an Intel chipset trick..but it's worth a shot.
What did you last do before this happened?

i already tried with one stick same thing but i put it back in and it started up but then the whole thing died(before post), umm i took the heatsink off and the cpu came with it

Ouch, double check your cpu pins. Might have shorted your proc and killed it.

K, sounds alright then. Guys, think its possible he loosened up the IHS enough to pull the core off the die? It's only thing I can think of unless you missed your +4 pin or your P4 AUX 12v connectors.

the board died if the cpu fan trys to start up then dies, take all the ram out see if you get any bibing sounds, you sould have a speaker in your case or on the board, if you dont get any bibing sounds then the board has died

It worked fine prior to the removal? ...Id take it apart and look again. Make sure there are no missing pins. If everything was a go B4 the cooler removal , it has to be related.
@JR Ive seen this is a problem with the factory CEMEMT they put on the stock coolers, but most survive the extraction , as long as it came straight out(no missing pins).

You caught me exactly! You knew exactly why I was asking. ;)

would everything still start up if board was died but then die, ? i also took the ram out but there was one beep but i think it was the hdd

12-31-2007, 05:27 AM
a board can still die and still get power goin though it, you should get a bibing sound that the board is letting you know that there is no ram , the sound should keep repeating, do you have case fans pluged in do they ture on?
Snipe343
12-31-2007, 05:36 AM
case fans turn on no bibing sound, w/ no ram how could it have died? had no static, in a power protecter, surge and battery backup

my mate got a new asus board had it for 2day changed the cpu fan didnt work after, it could be any thing, psu surge my mate had a 850w thermaltake psu with surge protecter it didnt help, some board just die ,you cant stop it from happing, if the cpu fan isnt staying on then its a power problem, even with no ram and video card in your system the cpu fan will still turn on, have you changed any think in the pasted week?

look on your MB see if you have a onboard speaker looks like this http://img.techpowerup.org/071231/18.jpg

no onboard speaker as far as i can tell(buzzer volume controll tho) any way doubts of died mobo lead me to take the cpu off and guess what 3 bent pins near the southwest side of the chip. could the cpu cause all of this and is my mobo still died?

Are they completely bent flat over?
Live OR Die
12-31-2007, 06:16 AM
well you mite be lucking but normally you should have burnt lines in the cpu socket, because when power is running though the cpu it has no where to go, you mite have killed them both only way you will find out is by testing them.

If this is a 939 chip there is still a good chance this CPU still works...Ive worked some tricks for em even without the pins after this exact situation....there is still hope!
Sorry didnt want to double post.....There is still hope but it requires steady hands, a magnafying glass and some twezers.

thats ok that gives me more chance to screw the mobo
( if i buy a new proccer will the borke mobo hurt it at all
)

make sure your very careful fixing the bent pins they can brake very easy

there is a slim chance it will hurt you new cpu, if the board is dead it want turn on.

Sorry didnt mean to keep you hangin....Just warm up the CPU first..some suggest the oven on low, I set mine on a heat register durring a blast of furnace heat.
Then the pins should be worm and a bit more flexable.
Gently try to lift and straighten the pins, a little at a time. Move one a bit then move down the line to the others. Go slow...more passes with little adjustments is safer than one big there-ya-go move!
If they do break there is yet still hope with gold crafting wire, but lets hope the previous advice works so we dont need to take this step!

is there a way to detect these "burns" on the socket?
Live OR Die
12-31-2007, 07:08 AM
The only way to detect the burns on the socket is to test it, is there any damage on top of the socket?

Only way to see if the CPU is burnt or not is to open the lid. If the CPU is burst then you can see clearly that.
But like others said try bending the pins back and see if it comes up.
Is it a Retail CPU? Did you buy for a Retailer? If so tomorrow call AMD and get a replacement. They answer very quickly, usually within a minute or so.
Good luck.

BTW I did jump right past the obvious of a RMA but your need to attend this LAN doesnt give you too many outlets.....Buy one or fix it!

there are small marks near were the pins were bent on the socket
