well i have a question....their is always a block of unused space that NEVER GETS USED the first 1/4 inch of the "bar" is data then theirs a 1 in section thats never used the rest after the blank spot is were my programs decide to go...ive totaly killed this drive befor 3 times wiping it using partition magic i wiped everything and it had NO format not ntfs fat fat32 nothing unallocated space the other 2 times i wiped it was when i used dareks boot and nuke agein their was no format to it after word then i would format it install everything and bang it was their again i did scan disc and checked for bad sectors nothin turned up fine i just dont get it i know the wondows filing systems arent very orderly but ive formated many times and it keeps happening same size and all does anyone know whats going on?

Sure it's blank, not unmovable system files or anything?
Perhaps the pagefile reserves some space? I wouldn't know otherwise
Try filling the drive untill it's 100% full (download pr0n or something), see if it gets used.

NTFS reserves space for the page file and system files to expand. Dont worry about it.

Some of its for system restore and recycle bin, and hibernation if its enabled. Try reducing the amout of space for restore and recycle bin. I always do that if I reinstall windows, cause if you have a 200Gb drive, recycle bin reserved 10% of that which is 20GB. :eek:
