hello everyone,

i recently took my old dell hard drive and reformatted it with windows xp home, but every time i boot my computer is gives me a dual boot screen saying for me to choose xp home, or xp media center, when i click on media center nothing happens, only xp boots up so my questions are...

1.) do i still have files from the older OS, if so how do i get rid of them.

2.) how do i get rid of this dual boot screen

my older computer may have been infected with a few things, (possibly a virus ) and i just wanted to know if the computer i put this into will be ok when i reformat it.

thanks for your time:)

The Dell Hdd had/has a recovery partition that is locked. You need to reformate it with something like this;

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Then re-install OS.

1. log in XP
2. right click on "my computer"
3. locate startup settings
4. delete media center option - save - restart
done....:cool:
