Question#1: I have a WD Caviar 160GB with Windows XP on it. I am getting a Seagate 160GB soon and was wondering if i just install it and it sets it self up? Or what?(Both Drives are SATA).
Question#2: With a second HDD with it effect upgrading anything else? Like the Video card and CPU?

If you connect it to another port Windows will detect it and you can then partition and format it. CPU and videocard are completely unrelated.

I thought the harddrive was already clean when you first buy it?

+1 on that.
It will see it if you go into bios and make sure... Most new HDD's are plug and play. Just make sure your WD starts up first and you shouldn't have any problems.
they are, but its all ways good to format any new hdd... so your system won't corrupt it in the future...

How would i make sure that one starts up first? And in order to format the new drive i use the Windows XP CD and pick the drive i want to format?

Rightclick my computer and select manage, everything can be done under disk management there. It pretty much explains itself.

when you go into bios, there should be a start up page in your bios that makes it to where you can make your hdd, cd, ports start first... go through your manual when you get it and it will show you what I'm talking about..
as for formatting.. when you start it up all the way, go to the HDD through "my computer" and right click on the new HDD. There you will have a option that allows you to format your drive..
