I was needing to download drivers for my dad's laptop that I'm temporarily using, and for kicks and giggles I decided to look at the XPS desktops. They only allow 4gb of DDR2 800mhz, 2 drives in raid 0 or 1, there's no 45nm Extreme Edition available, and the 8800gt is the ONLY video card option. What the hell is up with that? I mean I know it would all be overpriced even if they did offer that stuff, but you would think they would at least offer SLi and more than two hard drives. OH but wait! You can get two Blu-Ray drives.

I did a thread http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=43413
I was reading in the mag, on how there are about 5 laptop developers that are building systems just like that... And I believe dell was one of the 5. The Xps that you are looking at are the starting points.. just wait until 2nd quarter of this year... they will be showing the new ones off
as you can tell from the thread... I see no point in it, and I'd rather lug around my cosmos then buy a 5 thousand dollar laptop...

$5000 laptops  What's the f'in point? $5000 for a laptop that will be out of date in 2 years? You have got to be kidding me. I'd rather be stabbed in the eye with a hot poker. People should stick to desktops for high end gaming etc, and a laptop for basics for travel, when you can't get to your rig.
