I recently formated my computer and reinstalled everything and all worked just fine up to the point where i was going to install the graphic drivers. the installtion wenīt fine but on the restart the screen goes black after "Windows xp professional loading". Ivé tried to reinstall the drivers, resetting the bios, upgrading all drivers for the screen, the graphical card and the motherboard but nothing helps. the only thing i can think of is the that the refresh rate is to low or high but since i canīt change this setting in failsafe mode or VGA mode i donīt really know how to solve the problem.. iīm currently running the system in VGA mode to try to solve the problem.. all tips appriciated!

Check to makesure that your power cord is not lose. I had the exact same problem. The card will work to show some signal without proper power but when it goes to start running on the drivers it will turn off. One of my 12V pins was slightly pushed out and it wouldn't work. :)

Also, boot with the card, but don't install the drivers when you get to windows, press cancel. Then go on the net and dowload the new one and then install them, see how that goes.

Hi Dan, i checked the power cord as you said, but it doesnīt seem to solve the problem. And it works just fine to boot with the card without the drivers installed but even with the latest drivers from the net the screen goes black on startup after the driver installation.

Hmmm, thats weird. I know once before I would get a problem of my screen wouldn't t turn on after it finished loading windows. It would get to the logon and shutoff. It didn't happen all the time. It was fixed by reistalling windows again. Maybe try redoing windows again (I know its a pain). If you can also, try the card in another computer to see if theres a probelm with the card itself. But I would try reinstalling windows. If its software, that should cure it. ;)

You tried It In another Computer.....but did you use the same Monitor?

Sounds like the Monitor has gone on you......I've seen It before....Will load up Windows Just fine.....But any Video Driver Install and the Monitor cannot handle It.....Try Hooking your rig up to another monitor.

Have you perhaps tried the Omega drivers ? www.driverheaven.net

And indeed, try a different monitor. Try booting in safe mode and then deleting all references to monitors and/or videocards in the device manager (even better would be to run a drivercleaner...)

Yes do what they suggested of trying the monitor. Are sure that your PSU is good aswell?

Beg, borrow or steal a second monitor.
Install the drivers for the card using the second monitor.
Set the screen refresh rate to 60hz and the resolution to 800x600.
Save the settings.
Connect your original monitor and see if it will work with those settings.
I suspect that your monitor won't accept the default refresh rate that Windows is setting for your monitor/video card combination.
