i got this ram atm http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=

as its only £35 if i buy another lot and make my system run 4gb will i see any difference or pis it pointless?

or would i be better off to get some pc2-8500 ram?

No, 2GB is just fine. I run F@H SMP in the background, sometimes with Windows Media Player and I can game just fine. I would guess the average modern game takes 1GB of physical RAM, not counting the pagefile useage, so you've still got a whole GB left for whatever Windows and your other programs want.

Seriously, if you would overclock your cpu, even only to a 1333MHz FSB (that's 333MHz real), your chip would be at 3GHz, set yourself a 2:3 ratio and your RAM is running at 432MHz (DDR864) I BELIEVE, someone correct me if I'm wrong. It will probably be stable, if not the first thing I would do would be giving the RAM a little extra voltage, that should cure it...

Xp will only show 3.5 gig of the 4 gig any way.

save teh money the extra ram wont make a difference

yea i agree with the others. save the money and only spend it on something noticeable. or if you have one, the misses.

No offense, Id invest it into a dvd burner for your rig before anything. ;)
