Hi all,
I know this has been mentioned by a few people already, but I wanted to make a new one because I don't use ATITool, which is where all the previous comments have been.
I have a Gigabyte X800 Pro 256Mb with, for the last 2 weeks, an ATI Silencer 4 on it. Worked beautifully until today when the temps shot up and I took the case off to see the fan had stopped! I gave it a nudge/tap and it started again, for about 10 mins then stopped again. (tapped it again...)
I use ATI Tray Tools which controls the fan speed, not sure how to tell it not to, as it seems to be an integral part of the utility. Why would the fan stop turning like this after it had been working fine for a time? Please any help would be great because at the moment I can't leave the PC on and unattended in case the fan stops again. Luckily, at idle it is so cold that without the fan turning it goes up to about 45-50C, which is still ok temporarily, but steadily gets hotter over time if I don't kick start the fan again.
Could it be software related? Doesn't seem like it, but maybe ATT is interfering with the way the Silencer likes to operate its fan. But then why would it only be a problem now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
