Are the 8800GT and 8800GTX the same size? I was looking at something which said the GT was smaller but I don't know how much smaller.
I'm planning on getting 2 8800GT to put in the Antec P182 case. I know that the top hard drive bay needs to be removed in order for the GTX to fit and I was wondering whether it would be the same case with the GT
Thanks for the help

I'm pretty sure the GTX is significantly longer than the GT.
im pretty sure theyre on the same length board as the G80GTS so ~23cm as oppose to ~27 for the GTX

Nope GTX is longer.http://images.vnu.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/10/29/inq-grills-8800gt-dx10-hit/magnificent-four.jpg
GTX is the second card and GT is the last one.
GT is 22.5cm and GTX is 26.9cm but add another inch or so for the power connector on a GT cos it comes out the end not the top like the GTX.

so I should have room to spare in my P182... I was told that the antec 900 would fit but would be a tight squeeze.
thanks
i have a p180 and the hard drive cage doesnt need to be out for a GT but it definatly would for a GTX, ive got just over an inch of clear room to plug in the pci-e power connector with the cage still in.
sorry m8 that part of your original post didnt click the first time but im pretty sure the p180 and p182 are near identical.

thanks for that mate... I'm probably going to remove the hard drive cage anyway and install a 120mm fan there and put the HDDs in the bottom cage. That way i get good ariflow on my graphics cards

Nothing wrong with full length stuff, I'm more annoyed with average cases that can't house them. My RAID controller is full length, I also have remote control card which is full length. I have 3 eATX boards. If you want high end hardware don't expect it to be extremely small.

I know... I am actually quite surprised how few mid tower cases can actually fit high end graphics cards with ease.
I would have gone for a full tower but they are expensive and I just don't have the space for them

you should check my mini system, a matx case that can take a GTX :)
There are excellent cases out there, you just gotta look harder.

YA, i have a super lanboy case. But am going to upgrade it to a Thermaltake Armor, just to fit better cards. If they get even longer i might have to switch over to consoles:(.

I am happy with the P182... mainly because it is quiet and still keeps the system cool, as well as its sleek look :D
I did look at the armor at one point but I really did want a quieter case considering how much I am jam packing in there.

The akasa eclipse fits all cards, and eATX boards :p
i like my p180, but everything that was plastic on it has now broken off...which is really annoying, but still, i love the lower psu, the massive airflow and plethora of 120mm fans :P
