Hi everyone, i bought a new disk drive, and it arrived today, upon taking apart my computer and trying to put it in, i noticed that the connectors it needs are different to my old dvd disk drive, so i'm pretty stuck on what to do now, i was pretty sure they took all the same connectors, but i guess i was wrong!

I bought this disk drive http://www.microdirect.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?ProductID=24241&Spec=1#ShowReview

So bascialy if anyone could help me on what i should do to connect this to my motherboard it would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks!!!

it connects via a serial ATA cable like a Hard drive would

It would look like this and would have come with your motherboard

and hopefully your PSU also has SATA plugs. Unless it's really old, it should.

What MB do you have?

Just look on your motherboard.

Or return it for an IDE drive.

Would an IDE one work out of the box, with no need to buy extra cables? since i'm not sure what type my old dvd drive is, but it's not SATA so this one for example?

That is awesome, I love how he hijacked a 10 month old thread to ask a question not related to the topic!!! He must have done a search for MS-7125 and ended up here.
