X has a see through top so you can watch it spin - IF you can mount it so you can see it in your case. If not, waste of money.

OMG! I bet there are people who buy the X and put it in an enclosed case. LOL

Exactly. Unless your creative or handy with tools, most people wont/dont need the X.

I bet you that some people who bought the Raptor X thought to themselves "Oh, a new Raptor, and its an X! It must be a newer/faster Raptor! I'm soooo getting this!"

I'd get a WD SE16 750gig over a Raptor. Raptors are barely faster anymore and they are so noisy... And obviously their capacity stinks.

I have a 150gig Raptor and I actually have it held in place in the drive bay with elastic straps to shut it the hell up. :) I really don't like the seek noises of them at all. I also have 2 500GB SE16s and they are quite fast and so much quieter...

But this is just me. I'm on the quest for quiet computers after years of fan noise, whirring bearings, and loud-seeking hard disks of the '90s. :)

right now the best deal is 2 raptors in raid 0, ultra fast, and they are only 99 a piece on newegg!

yeh get two 74gb and raid them you will get the same storage as the raptor x pritty much but way better performance and more noise but thats the way it go's also may cost a little more but not much

if your looking for performance for good money get two 500gb seagate 72011 and raid them! would be cheaper and better performance overall compared to one raptor!

if you have lots of money go for a 15k drive lol but you will need to buy lots more stuff! if you can wait i would get a solid state drive/normal hd they look good for the near future:nutkick:

w2ell actually,
36 gb = 99
74 gb = 149
150 gb = 169

so 2 74's would be almost twice as much. I am going for speed with 2 of these, and have a seperate storage raid, so i don't need a ton of space.

I bought both of my Raptor X's at best buy last year for 129.99 a piece and the only reason I bought the X's was one the price and two these are the only ones best buy carry for some reason. I have NO complaints about noise but thats probably due to the thermalright adjustable fan in the front of them that I turn up when I play games.

Well, if you want speed and quietness, then you want SSDs, right?

If I could have one HDD I would pick the 150gb RaptorX those things pwn. My friend has one and he can load stuff way faster than my caviar!
