Trying to get my 9600xt to fly
HP Pavilion a710n
XP 3100+ processor
XP Home SP2
1 Gig of RAM
A7V8X-LA motherboard (has onboard video)
430W PS
Have installed latest ATI Catalyst patch
Have installed latest VIA chipset drivers
Have flashed BIOS (to Phoenix 3.15)
Have checked and yes, "AGP/onboard" is selected as default video adapter
BIOS does not seem to have a way of switching between 4X and 8X, though some documentation I have seen suggests that it is compatible with both
Symptoms:
Will run on the 9600 for anywhere between no time and 7 minutes before going black or having motionless colored vertical lines.
If I ask it to do ANYTHING remotely strenuous (like adjust the display settings...) it dies.
Ok. You guys love solving these little annoying conundrums that drive the rest of us to consider chipset violence. So, solve away. What have I missed!!!!?
