:toast: Finaly I got ATT 0.27b4 to work with my HD3850-512.:toast:

Here is the trick: In the system services management console, you'll find "ATI Hotkey Poller" service.

If you want to use ATT for OC your HD38xx, disable this service since that one is used by the driver to detect the 2D/3D changes and conflict with ATT 0.27b4. After you disabled this service, reboot your PC. Now, your HD38xx should use only the max default clocks depending on your card model and manufacturer (no more powerplay).
From now ATT 0.27b4 can be launched but, first of all, you have to configure it. Go settings, open the "HD2000 Overclocking" and uncheck the "If the card has 2D/3D clocks, switch to 3D clocks when starting ATITool". You're set.

Now you can change the GPU/MEM clocks as you wish and even try to find the max clocks.

Hmmmm still too bad the fancontrol doesnt work on these cards. Not in Crossfire mode anyway. This would be an awsome feature, since my cards are getting 90c under load.

Little update: the fan control with the new Rivatuner 2.07 does NOT work EITHER!

So folks, let's wait until ATiTool 0.27 beta 5 :(

Did you edit the config file on Riva before you tried. I did the edit and the fan control works for my 3870 X2.

elaquila give as more detail about how to edit that config file on riva

I use last version of riva on my 3870X2 work by default the clock of gpu run stable at 860mhz and the fan have a limitation to minim 25%.

But at 25% riva say 0% fan speed, but the fan is running. :)

I followed these 2 steps and it worked. I told it to detect without rebooting. This is for the 3870 x2 so I am not sure how it will work on the 3870. Also have you tried the new Riva 2.08 that has just been released? You may not need to do this.

1. Download & Install RivaTuner.
2. RivaTuner won't offer hardware settings because the 3870X2 isn't listed in the .cfg file for RivaTuner. Simply open the RivaTuner.cfg file (under Program Files/RivaTuner), find (ctrl-f, it's a big file) the word RV670 (the first result), add 950Fh at end, and save it. It should look like this: RV670 = 9500h-9501h,9505h,9507h,950Fh Save and Close it.
