- Added Dump Bios for NVIDIA
- Fixed bug where the default profile on NV didnt store 2D and 3D clocks
- Fixed "black screen with mouse cursor visible" when loading default profile on new installations (gamma issue)
- On new installations thermal monitoring defaults to on, when supported
No update on the ASUS fan control issues, since nobody contacted me yet :(

Not certain what info you need, no really obvious changes for my card again. Bios dump appeared to work. I have problems with GPU OC defaulting to 1380 memory even when I set it to start at 1360 but that may be an odd conflict between the winfox and coolbits settings. I'm uncertain if default 2d, 3d had problems I never noticed any but then I didn't try it either :)

Is there the dimmest possibility that running the Find Max Mem function could cause SMBIOS to become corrupted? I got ahold of the last revision of ATITool Beta and when I did the above I began having lockups and reboots while using my pen-tablet (com2, Calcomp Drawingboard III) to do no more than draw a few lines, or select a section of a graphic in Painter. I was on deadline and persevered but imagine trying to do a cartoon four strokes at a time between reboots or lockups. My brain is still working!
I ran a diagnostic (FixIt Pro 6) I was told that COM1 didn't exist but 2 did; in addition the SMBIOS had this problem:
SMBIOS Information
Started at 19:59:09 PM on 09/01/2005
Ended at 19:59:09 PM on 09/01/2005
This reports system information and should not fail
Found an SMBIOS Entry Point structure: v2.3.0
Failed to decipher SMBIOS Structure Table structure.
Non-conforming SMBIOS Structure Table structure(s).
Incorrect number of valid Structure Table structures found.
37 of 38 valid Structure Table structures found.
End-of-Table structure is present.
Changed BIOS settings to Auto for both com ports, saved, restarted, changed back again to the standard default. Ran diags with same result. Reflashed BIOS with a fresh copy, did the whole thing with optimized settings saved etc., went back to Windows, ran diags. Same error.
I wasn't overclocking with ATITool before this, and this was only an attempt. Kindly advise.

Simply opening the Gamma settings page gives me a hard freeze on XP. The only way out is to hit the reset button.
The OC page seems to work well, though.

Same problem here on a BFG 7800GTX OC, XP Pro X64 and Forceware 77.77. Opening the gamma settings page makes the monitor go into standby and the system locks up.
A few other things. When saving a problem it seems to only show the 2d clock speeds on the profile select, untill i restart ATI Tool, then it shows all 3. Also, the thing that shows the current clocks is way too slow, and only updates once focus is taken off ATI Tool. For example, if i open ATI Tool it says 200/725, then if i open the 3d render it still says 200/725 (even though its clear the card is running at 3d clock speeds), the current clocks then only update once i click off ATI Tool, and the same things happens if you turn off the 3d view, the clocks dont update untill you click off ATI Tool. Same thing happens if you have ATI Tool minized down to the task system tray, the clocks dont update when you have your mouse over the ATI Tool icon.

dont know if this is a beta 7 issue or just atitool in gen. - I use it on my desktop for my x800 and it kicks butt - Thx a ton for this, but that one had a fan and temp monitor. Ive used this program before on my laptop when it was the only ati card i had and i didnt really notice it, but now i was hoping that it would work on my 9600 pro turbo, but it doesnt show anything for fan Or temps, fans not as big of a deal as i9kfangui works ok, but the temps would be nice to graph to see how hot it is, or maybe even to overlay in game - that would rock :)
again, sorry if this should be in the other forums, just figured this was the best

Yeah Canon20d it would be cool to have a temps overlay in game :) Nice idea m8
What happend to the ability to change fan speeds to low integers, like 2%? Setting it to 2% now with the latest betas the util sets the fanspeed value to 0%. This used to work when you didn't have the "Do not change the PWM base frequency (850XT)" checked. Bug or intended?

lenniz: you have to edit your video driver's .inf file to for that .. its pretty easy
virus: temp/fps overlays are in the internal builds here and working ... they just consume 10% of your fps which is not acceptable
dtx: should work .. asus card or normal ati card? do you have the "do not change" option enabled?
sean: fullscreen scanning does neither increase heat output nor gpu load.

Try asking in the normal forums, not the one dedicated to the beta versions.
btw: open ATITool, 'Settings' :: drop down box => 'Temperature Monitoring' :: tick 'Measure card temperature' :: 'Back' :: Temperatures should be shown on the front panel. At the lowest part of the front panel temp. is the 'Environment' (memory) and above that is the 'GPU' temp.

Hey W1zzard don't you think it would be a good idea to incorperate a Max Temperature Alarm feature into ATITOOL? Hi all,
First of all a BIG THANK YOU W1zzard for thinking at nVidia video cards owners :)
This is the tool I'm waiting for looong time...
First time user of ATITool and I have some questions (obvious :)) even after reading documentation on Wiki...
I have XP Pro SP2 (all updates from AutoPatcher August 2005), Albatron GeForce4 Ti4600, XG 77.76 drivers, and I don't know how AtiTool is supposed to work: I fire up ATITool, and boxes with Core and Memory are empty (but if I hover mouse over tray icon it shows Core 300 and Memory 325), and then I click on Find max core and leave it for half an hour. Nothing happens :( (I think), in tray core is at 420 and climbing, but I guess is wrong...
Ah, and if I close the program from x button, I have an error (Windows has encountered an error and need to close...)
Any suggestions are welcome :)

Great tool coming to NVidia users now!!! :D
Found a couple of bugs, running a Club3D 7800GT with 78.03 drivers, HQ settings, Transparent AA and Gamma-Corrected AA activated.
1. System hangs when opening Gamma Controls, like reported by others before.
2. When trying to "Find Max Mem" it tells me that my Core is overclocked even when it is not. Sometimes it does not happen, but most of the time it does.
Also both 3D Core clocks are set to the value of the 2D clock then, which is either 275 MHz or whatever you have set for 2D before starting "Find Max Mem".
3. When using "Find Max Mem" it went up flawlessly until the point when screen corruption began (the whole screen was affected, not only AtiTool). Then it told me that it could not compare images and that I should not use the Debug version of DirectX, but the Retail version. As far as I know I *am* using the Retail anyway.
After that it went on clocking the Memory some higher at which point the whole system began to choke, then aborted. As my mousepointer was still useable I tried to hit Default (also ALT-D) but it wouldn't react. Half a minute later the system finally froze.
4. When using "Find Max Core" all Core clocks are set to the speed of the 2D Core clock, which is 275 MHz or whatever you have set before starting the Find function.
It also seems to set all three clocks at once, which will very likely lead to a freeze, since the 2D Core is not able to handle clocks as high as the 3D Core according to my experience (I twice set my 2D clock to 400+ MHz accidently when trying to overclock using Coolbits, the system froze once I pushed the Test button).
-*-
All in all I am very glad that you are implementing NVidia support, since your tool seems to be very promising and useful!
Is used Gainwards Expertool for my old 6800LE for quick switching of clock profiles without the need to test the settings again. It was able to handle fanspeed as well, but unfortunately wont work for 7800 series.
So if you plan to implement fan-control for NVidia cards as well then a lot of people are going to be very happy! ;)
take care

Another small bug:
You cannot use "Set Clock" withouut using either sliders or +/- buttons. So when you just type in a value in one of the boxes above the sliders directly the "Set Clock" button stays greyed out ultil you use some slider.
tm101
09-08-2005, 08:39 AM
They come in one after another... ;)
When I "Load" the "Default" profile my system freezes at once! That does not happen when I use the "Default" button. It also does not happen when I create a new profile with the default values and give it a *new* name. But when I create a profile that overwrites the "Default" one (by chosing the name "Default") it still freezes.
Also when you create a new profile it only shows the 2D and memory clock settings in parantheses until you restart AtiTool. After restart all three Core clocks are shown.

Great! :)
I just found some other bug(s):
When AtiTool is started the average frame-count of the "3D view" is 160 (at default clocks). As soon as the "3D view" is closed and reopened the average frame-count drops to 125.
When closing/reopening the "3D view" exactly (!) four times after the first time the frame-rate drops to about 88 and stays that low until you restart AtiTool.
It doesn't matter if the "3D view" is already open or not at restart, the very first time it's always showing higher frame-count than the next three times, and then drops considerably again.
What matters me most is that when you start a "Scan for Artifacts" after a fresh start of AtiTool you get errors within 1 second, even at default clocks!
After closing/reopening the "3D view" no more artifact are found.
It seems as if clocks are set higher than shown when starting AtiTool, but when checking back with Coolbits and Rivatuner they both show correct values, so something else must be wrong I guess.

What matters me most is that when you start a "Scan for Artifacts" after a fresh start of AtiTool you get errors within 1 second, even at default clocks!
This does not always happen, maybe it's temperature related, can't say yet. But once it happens then it happens every time you start AtiTool until at least Reboot I guess (or maybe cool down).
you have to reboot after turning the option off.. on applies instantly .. i should add a message
Still a no go, tried with both settings, rebooted each time.
Setting the fixed percentage to 3% results in current speed: 4%
Setting the fixed percentage to 2% results in current speed: 0%

Rivatuner can set fan-speeds for the whole Nvidia range now (including 7800), but I miss an option to set fan-speeds according to GPU temperature.
So my hopes go for Atitool regarding this nice lil feature! ;)
By the way: 3D-Detection is an AWSOME useful feature, because it allows to set profiles upon entering 3D-mode. By that you can set different memory speeds for 2D and 3D which is not possible any other way! Thanks alot! :D

does the max. oc detection test work well for you?
With scanning set to most sensitive it works reasonably well. I believe I had to lower my core and mem speed a small amount from the max it found to get complete stability. I haven't really been thorough enough with my testing to say with certainty. The extra 5C or 10C may be enough to account for the small stability difference.
What might be handy is a way to OC 2d, 3d low and 3d perf core settings independently as things now stand it attempts to OC all 3 when you do a max core test or perhaps have an option to exclude 2d and 3d low from oc max test.

why should it not oc all 3 clocks? when it is scanning the running mode is 3d perf anyway
It just seems that the only time you really need the extra speed and heat of an OC is in 3D Perf. and why have the program spend the time testing the settings that will not see use? Is there the possibility that it also adds test setting that are extra variable's leaving more to go wrong? For example: I noticed that while running OC max it attempted testing core settings on the 2d slider that where higher than those on the 3d perf slider. This apparently resulted in a system lock on my comp. Perhaps this was an odd quirk. Unfortunately don't understand the details of what is happening during the test.

I can no longer set the fan control to a fixed percentage. If I set it to anything and hit apply it sets it to 17% regardless of what number I put in. Any ideas?
I get the same problem with my Asus AX800XL. devildog did this feature used to work with Beta 6?

Hi W1zzard,
what is the bug in the asus fan control.
On my old Windows XP (now I have a try with x64 Edt.), the SmartDoctor from Asus works fine and the control of the fan was correctly.
But under x64 I have the same problem like devildog, that the fan speed stands at 17% (with the option try to keep a temp at xx°c)
Last but not least I have to say, that the Driver support from Asus is sh**

I am running x64 as well and I have the same problem. I've been helping W1zzard to fix it over MSN and we are slowly getting there... keep an eye out for Beta 8! Did you say you have got SmartDoctor to work on x64? I could not get the Asus Enhanced driver to install, so Smartdoctor wouldn't work. Only ATITool works for me on x64.
Yes the Asus drivers sucks... solution: just use normal Catalysts and W1zzard's awesome ATITool!!

To W1zzard:
I got a bug, in 25.1, I reported it anyway just in case it’s something that you haven’t fixed.
I lost my temp controlling, haven’t done anything with drivers and so on, but I accidentally put the computer to sleep instead of shutting it of.
I'm installing the latest beta, hopefully the problem goes away (the sapphire x800 xl sound awful at default speed).
EDIT: yeap, the 25.7 did the trick, you might consider to rename the file... it's .php at the moment, renaming it to .exe and the installation works fine.

Hi,
I had installed ATITool v0.25 Beta 7.
In fixed percentage setting.
Whatever you define above 25%, the Current Speed always shows %25.
When I'd checked from Asus SmartDoctor at 25% of Fixed Percentage, SmartDoctor shows ~6000 RPM which is approximately maximum RPM for my ASUS Radeon A9600 XT TDV.
For example,
When I set %25 in Fixed Percentage and apply the Current Speed shows %25 SmartDoctor shows ~6000 RPM.
When I set %80 in Fixed Percentage and apply the Current Speed again shows %25 and SmartDoctor again shows ~6000 RPM.
On the other hand,
When I set %12 in Fixed Percentage and apply the Current Speed again shows %12 and SmartDoctor again shows ~3800 RPM.
Seems that there is a scaling factor issue...
System:
-------------
ASUS P5P800 Mobo
Kingston 2x512 MBytes of DDRAM
Pentium IV 540J (3.2 GHz)
ASUS Radeon A9600 XT TDV
Catalyst v5.6
Windows XP SP2
Hope the info help,
Regards...
