This is one thing that always PISSED ME OFF about ATI cards is that they don't have a program to use the AVIVO. Does anyone know of a program that will work with the VIVO on a 2900XT? I used to use showshifter, but it isn't compatible with the 2900. I have tried Windows media center, but it doesn't want to work either.

2900 XT
Windows Vista Home Premium x64.

It works and it is freaking awesome!:rockout:

ATI is a gift to all people who use their cards for more than gaming!

Get the driver. Use this GUI!

Does that allow TV Streaming? All I want to do is play my gamecube on my monitor.

Oh, I was confused. I thought you wanted a video converter!

Shouldn't you be able to use an s-video cable to plug into the dongle that comes with the card?

Right, but I need a program to display it. Unless there is some way to kick it over to TV IN mode, I have no idea.

You mean it doesn't appear in the CCC Display manager pulldown when you plug it in as I descibed?

Have you tried a 3rd party video app like AMCap (http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=video)?

It tells me that I have no capture card installed, just like everything else.

Seems like it might be an issue with the AVStream driver or the WDM drivers.

I know the x850xt pe in my GF's rig has a VIVO chip on it...would I be able to use that program for conversion? From what I'm getting it's more for hooking up VCR's and such...but if I could put her GPU to work for converting video... Though from what I'm reading I must have at least an x1k for it to work which is kind of a bummer cause I wouldn't mind her PC converting vids to her Zune format quicker than the P4 is capable of! :D

Sound like the WDM drivers may not be installed. Go into ATIs folder. Usually C:\ATI\SUPPORT\[version] and then the WDM folder and re-run the installer. After that try this program.

That should allow you to choose the input source and view it in a window or fullscreen.

EDIT - dead link, try this. http://farley.wwwhost.biz/public/choice/video_tools/VideoThumb2Installer.exe

i tried to get avivo conversion working a while back .. in the end converting the 4 dvds full of movies using my cpu was faster than working around the buggy implementation with limited software support :(

Can i hook up my video camera ( Its a Canon hi8 ) to that s-video port on the back of my hd3870 and transfer home videos to my PC that way? Vivo is video-in video-out right? Buddy of mine was able to hookup his Camcorder to his vid card and transfer all home videos to his PC. He said he used Pinnacle app

That's what they made it for. Plus the video converter lets you take that and convert it to quite a few formats for archiving or distribution.

I had no such problems when I utilized Ray's Xcoder front-end.
