Vista and windows 98! Help!

Ok well the situation I have is that me and all my housemates run off a LAN and are all using vista. But in our pool table room we've got a big ass old school stereo and I dug up an old old laptop that I found at my parents house which is running windows 98 :shadedshu. I wanna turn the 98 laptop into a media centre type deal so we can all just run our music through the stereo from the laptop. The lan is all hooked up and the latpop can talk to all the computers and vice versa but I have no idea how to share files and vista won't recognize the laptop under it's sharing centre. Any form of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The first couple of things to check is whether they are on the same workgroup, and what the IP addresses are.

ip addresses are 192.168.0.x And there all on the same workgroup.

There are several possibilities here, but I'm wondering if there's a possibility of the firewall causing trouble. I have three machines at my home which are all on XP, but I had issues with Windows Firewall causing problems. The easiest solution was to change the default IP of my DSL modem (gateway/router/AP,etc.) from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.2. After that, the problem no longer existed.

ok never had to resolve this problem myself... but have read similar things all around the netz and so did a quick search for it and this would be my guess but perhapps you have already covered it... *hates self for posting m$ link* but anyways...
