Upgrading/Rebuilding a computer that currently has a Gigabyte GA-8IG1000MK and will be now using a ASUS P5N32-E SLI.

My question is about the connection of my DVD burner and DVD rom currently through IDE, how will these two connection on the new board and will any cables need purchasing ?

You will get ide cable/s with the board,why would there be a problem?

just plug in the ide like what you have now.

otherwise, you may want to purchase new dvd-rw that has sata connection instead. i think thats what you meant?

yeah thats what im on about.

Will the DVD burner have both IDE and Sata connections ? Seems to be a few ports with nothing in them.

The dvd burner will be either sata or ide,not both.You can of course use a sata or ide burner on the board,its your choice.

just what tigger said, your dvd is ide right now, if u want sata you have to go and buy it. like gfx card are either pci-express or agp, not both
