HD 3870 X2 Fan control Bios Fix Request

i will be so grateful if someone can modify the bios for this card , so the fan speed changes as temp changes for the card , so if anyone can do this ill email you or attach my bios here , thx .

i dont think anyone knows where the fanfix single 3870 bios originated.. or who did it.. so far i dont think a x 2 one exists..

it be nice to see one , it goes upto 76-78c on load ................. i got a 12v 120mm fan blowing on it that helped it come down to 73-74c .............. if only the original fan ran faster =)

Those temps are acceptable. I have a single Hd3870 and with the original fan bios on here I load higher temps than that!

true , but i feel comfortable when its below 68c , just me =P

ps. i think ill go with a water setup for this card.

I can understand that as well....... Have you tried Rivatuner 2.06 (http://www.freewarefiles.com/rivatuner_program_13538.html) and tried to adjust the fan speed there? It will allow my card @ 70% speed Idle at 45* and load alot cooler!

what cured me of unduly worrying about temps was my 1900xtx.. they all ran at 90 C and spat flames out the back of the case..he he he..

since then card temps havnt bothered me too much.. :)

intel selling P4 prescots that ran at 100 C at over a thousand quid also kinda cured me of unduly worrying about my cpu temps also.. :)

ati target the single 3870 to run at 90 C.. with the 1900xtx they couldnt help it but with the 90 C 3870 card its choice..

logic tells me they aint gonna do this if it harms the card..

I flashed my HIS HD3870 with the fanfix bios. After the flash my card idles around 48C and 60C loaded. I set the temp in ATITool to keep the GPU at 50C. GPU-Z shows my bios is now a Sapphire Partners bios. I think that is where the fanfix originated! COOL and QUIET.

riva doesnt work for the hd 3870 x2 yet ................ i wish it did wud solve my worries , and i understand what you are saying trogg , i just have a bug about it .......... if i can increase fan speed and decrease temps so be it ............. mine on stock doesnt go above 78 load though ........ if it was 90c i'd be bitting my nails , lol

the first modded bios was based on the saphire bios.. whats unknown is who modded it.. its cool but not exactly quiet.. he he.. no stock card comes with it..

if it really was trying to keep the card at 50 C under full load the fan would be running at 100% and sound like a leaf blower..

OK I thought the Sapphire fanfix was an Original! It was so well done that I thought it was an Inhouse fix. Find that Modder. The Complexities of the HD 3870 scare me away from using a HEX editor to mod a bios without Professional Guidance! Let alone a card with X2 GPU's. Good Luck.
