NVIDIA 9600GT is suffering delays due to some cards have voltage offset issues, can not make it to the Valentine’s Day. But we try to dig out some more informations of the card.
Right after the card hits the market in February 21 (local time, china), there will be two versions available. The first one is 512MB and a 256MB version will also be released.
The price of 9600GT will be set between $169 USD and $189 USD. More higher than its predecessor, 8600GT’s launch price.
Our source said AA performance of 9600GT will be optimized, by utilizing less graphic memory than GeForce 8 series.
And, in the new ForceWare NV will also enhance video playback quality of 9600GT, by making it more colorful. Because users are complaining the color is too “light” when using GeForce card to output Hi-def video comparing to ATI Radeon’s.

So yea, with the arrival of this the 8800GS will become obsolete. Wonder how good will the HD3850 512MB perform against this baby. This is certainly cheaper...unless ATI drops the price on the HD3850's...

3850 seems like a lot more card for the money. Ill probably be getting a 3850 in the summer unles I can get a 512mb 8800gt for below $200 or an 8800gs for below $150. Now if the 9600 was about $30 cheaper i might be considering one instead, but it doesn't look like it now.

I must be looking at different graphs to you then???? It looks to me that it beats it in every test there, even at 1280 where the HD3850's lesser memory shouldnt be signifcant. Ohhh and is it not a little cheaper?
Although I have to say. it seems a bit unexciting to me.

A next gen midrange that performs like a current gen midrange. Oh joy. Buy a HD3850, it won't give you AIDS.

nice price , wonder how good will it really be . and if it beats HD3870 or even gets close to that, then according to me Nvidia has again won the war in this price segment , unless ATI decides to make RV700 series better .

well it looks great, and cheaper than a 3850 512mb. Id get one for sure, remember children unless the game is AMD optimized the AMD card is also 64 shaders

You mean Stream Processors? If it had 64 shader engines.....well rocket springs to mind :D

It's not cheaper than the 256MB 3850, which can be found for less than $150. That said, it's a pretty compelling offering. If it had been available for $169 at the time I purchased my 3850, I'd have spent the extra money for it.
Personally, I'm now skeptical of all pricing promises. Remember when the 8800GT was touted as a $199 board? Remember when the same was claimed for the 3870?
So, we'll see how it goes.

I also notice some phrasing peculiarities in the quote. Although the benchmarks show the 512MB 9600GT, they make no distinction regarding the price claims. I bet $169 will fetch the 256MB version, with the 512MB model sitting at $200.
I might be jaded, but fool me once...you know how it goes.

the G94 is cheaper to produce than the G92, its half the core to be excat and uses what looks like a modified 8800GT board anyway, so its very likly this thing will be cheap. This is what the 8600GT was supposed to be, these where the leaked specs from 06 that everyone was touting that never arrived, i think Nvidia was waiting untill AMD had something worthy out to launch this bad boy. And its going to totally embrass the HD3670 :D
someone correct me but the 8800GS HSF looks like Geforce6 meged with Geforce 78xx HSF unit and shorted a bit.

the language "pecularities" is due to english not being his native language. The website is based in china. Also, the 256 version will come much later than the 512 version's 2/21/08 release date.Perhaps the 256 will arrive sometime around the 9800's,maybe later. So the price of 512 is probablly going to be what they said, maybe a little more for the release hype.

pretty good card but i just cant bare Nvidia's control panel...one dumb but strong reason why i still with ATI.

Nothing spectacular. Let me know when there are 9800GT/GTS benchmarks. The 9800GTX is going to be too much expensive for me.

I'm used to seeing writing from people for whom English is a second language. That doesn't bother me and wasn't the reference I was making. Rather, I was thinking of the inconsistency between:
there will be two versions available. The first one is 512MB and a 256MB version will also be released.
and:
The price of 9600GT will be set between $169 USD and $189 USD.
Note that the second quote doesn't specify the amount of memory. Twenty dollars is a pretty tight range for a brand new part with two different memory configurations. Hence my skepticism.
I hope it's accurate, though. It could make the 9600GT the Ti4200 of 2008.

Lol, I am the exact opposite, to me the control panel is simple and straight forward, I find CCC buggy and lethargic.

I've never had a problem with either CCC or Nvidia's control panel (when compact).

These pconline benchies are not comparing apples to apples.
The 9600GT has 512MB, against 256M and 384M on the other cards.
