I have to ask just to be sure!
check the thread below....
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=50407
It is a new build for my cousin... and we chose to use two sapphire 3870 in crossfire in combination with an Asus Max Formula (X38) which uses 2 16X PCI-express 2.0
The setup is almost finished and we installed XP SP2 PRO and chipset drivers for the first tests...
Installed ATi software and checked the CROSSFIRE box at the settings panel. Everything was fine untill we installed 3dmark06 advanced 1.0.1
the benchmark starts and then it just stops responding :banghead:. No 3dmark06 patch applied yet!
Is there a known problem with this setup?
cards in crossfire?
windows fix required...maybe?
anything else?

all right man, how about going here (http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=50159&highlight=crossfire+problems) and seeing if that helps. Dr. Spank. helped the guy through it all... so maybe it will help you...

Ok, you said you used version 1.0.1, do you mean 1.1.0? If your not using 1.1.0 Id head over to Filehippo (http://filehippo.com/download_3dmark06/) and get the newest version of 3dmark. I had problems with 3dmark freezing on me and not loading, I had to install a patch from futuremark. I will find it and post it on here as soon as I do.

I have the patch, just not applied it yet... I will be installing a lot of staff later tonight, including patch 1.1.0, and hope for the best!

we'll know in a few hours if it works.. He's doing a lot of different things here and there he told me. So we'll know in a hour or so... But, its something I'm going to be trying also... Whenever I think of going with a new board, and crossfire...

I don't know what the patch does exactly, but the main point from the thread that Wizz linked was to rename the direcpll.dll. This is what is holding up your 3DM runs.

just to add..
"deactivate" the direcpll.dll.. rename.. delete.. or move it.. its something to do with the 3dmark reading the system specs..
it lives in the window/system32/futuremark/msc folder..
2003.. 2005 and 2006 with all ati cards 2000 series and beyond need it doing..
if u reinstall any of the aforementioned 3dmarks it gets put back and needs doing again..

ok success.... did the Futuremark_SystemInfo_Hotfix_Oct07_installer, updated drivers to XP32-64_8-43-1-1-071113a-055588E.exe, updated bios to 0907 and here we go....
the result was a solid 14721 marks!!!! NO OVERCLOCK!!! :D:D:D
