i really like BFG too, the only thing is their o/c's are too mild these days compared to other brands, having said that....

back in 04 i rushed out with $850 AUD and bought the BFG 6800 Ultra OC AGP and never looked back. that card crunched pixels for years, and still would if it worked, i get the feeling a mate i lent it to fucked it. :( still even tho it sux by todays standards, i'd love to get it fixed, i mean i payed so much for it and tweaked it so much, its almost like loving a child...

it comes with...case badges 2x random coupons etc...dvi adapter black...2x molex:1x 6pin adapter...and dvi/svideo adapter....heat sink is single slot cooling solution..pics later im going to run heat tests stock first...apart pics will come in a couple days.....this thread will be updated with my gpu-z alpha so u can see rops etc..no BS from all these sites saying diff things...core clock is 675mhz...vs 650 stock and my mem is at 1800mhz...shader clock is 1700mhz vs 1625 standard....it has 512mb of gddr3 256bit mem interface 57.6gb/s bandwidth and 64 shaders unified...ill get a gpu-z later but this is all you guys atm...

i reckon less than 24 hours before this card has a full blown oc-ing/modding thread done by sol.

tentatively i would say you'll reach 800 on the core, around 2000 on the shaders and hopefully 2ghz+ on the ram. but thats a stab in the dark going from my experience with G80's, G84's and G92's

I couldn't use the drivers on my 8800GS that came with it, had to go to Nvidias site and download some.

kk stats update...it coast 220....i had to because for some reason employee discounts werent going through i wonder it isnt even really in their system yet...as for drivers yes it does it even supports my current OOS windows 2000 and it works beautifully.....here are some updates..ill run benchies in a sec...


our alpha release(thnx w1zz) supports the 9600 fully...and even includes a nifty temp gage and a couple other stats...


its currently at 52ºC aty boot it was 50 and im currently idle..... as you can see the new 9 series doesnt support DX 10.1 or SM 4.1 but w/e who needs it right?......

this card seems like a decent preformer....i mean 3dmark 03 is about the same as my 3dmark 01 score...the fact that their close to the same instead of 3dmark -03 being less means that well...idk it just seems the preformance is good and consistant...and obviously...3dmark 01 isnt putting any pressure on the card because of the rez.

ill re run aquamark..i may try new drivers...and ill reinstall xp...i might call it a night though its late here and hunnie wants to cuddle. but the cad only tops at 57 under load....good stock cooling imo..given the scope of the card and the single slot cooler design.

Understood. I think everyone is trying to measure your benches against their systems. That's difficult given your specs right now. I think I'll hold off on buying one of these until I see how they perform with a C2Q. The price is also steep considering you can get a 8800gs for $159, and a more powerful 8800GT 512 for $200 or so.

not really, most of them, even if they don't measure cpu power, still get some part of the score from the cpu.

for instance even if a benchmark only gives you gpu performance, if you run the test with the same gfx card, but one system with a core 2 quad 45nm, and the other with a AMD athlon 3200+....the scores will still vary.

I'm very happy for you man, the only TPU user next to W1z in possession of a 9600GT. Now the card is already a bit OC'ed from the factory....what it means that if you happen to fry it, it could be easier with the RMA, etc. Because OC / OC2 / SSC / Atomic, etc have warranty cover for the card's factory-set operating parameters, so you can get away with even higher parameters in case something happens to it. Good luck 8600....oops...9600 Mod Guru :toast:

o ya...but not atm....im drawing too much power and to get this thing to work..i spliced and had to disconnect things..my gaming drive is unplugged and atm..my rig is in peices...1 front intake works...rear 120mm is off..side exaust is off cathodes are off...temp guage is off...front led bars are off....and the side of my case is off cause of the power i draw..gotta go to my grtams and get more wires for my modular psu...

dude you got sexy legs, and you should use Paint.NET to get them to 1024xblablabla and then upload should be able to see to, and little tip take many pictures instead of one at a time, take like 3 fast so you get one that isnt out of focus so :) :toast:

Solaris, from the screenshots I can say you use Windows 2000? I'm not sure if Windows 2000 supports/is optimised for dual-core processors/multi-threaded applications. I'm sure you'll get better results with XP.

employee discounts werent working att and the 8800GT was more expensive...and since we were buying it with BB gift cards getting one off of newegg wasnt an option that and the GF heard me talk about this card so suggesting another would kinda hurt her feelings...not that it would matter because she had enough for the 9600 she was like 30$ short for the 8800...besides what boasting rites do you get getting an 8800 after it came out? im not helping anybody if i already get a card thats supported...im going to give you guys real life exp..not what these web sites tell you it does..... at anyrate she gets close to 1ghz core without a prob take a look.

so my mex temps at these clocks so far are 63ºC not bad for stock cooling....its actually really quite too....when it spools it gets a little loud havent gotten it to 100% fan speed but if it g3ets hot enough this thing might become a leaf blower.

lol not official yet ;) but i guess you could say after aquiring them im under a kinda NDA...as for now though...848/1850/2100(effective) doesnt top 63ºC 3d06....and unlike old versions these drivers dont clock the card back down after you OC it..it stays oc'd and doesnt need you to enter a "3d mode"...but this may all change when they make the drivers official....if youd like the 171.13's let me know.

ok im going to try and rewire my rig...see what i can get for juice...the reason i may not be able to oc the core past 865 b4 it flakes might be because im drawing too much power but i figure...time to be good to my work..want games you want played crysis..ut3?..ut04....cod1? sof2? those are all i really have ill try some oblivion and nwn2 aswell...i might install xpx64 first though so it may be awhile...but ill prob have some preliminarys up tonight.....anything else you want?

oh definitely, it absolutely trounces the 8600GT's memory gear.

-double the amount 512mb > 256mb
-double the memory bus 256bit > 128bit
-over double the effective bandwith 57.6GB/s > 22.4GB/s
-higher speed 1800mhz > 1400mhz

in fact not only that, but it has twice the amount of ROPS and twice the amount of SP's too.
a great replacement for the 8600GT, and in actual fact, its close to what i HOPED the 8600 would be before it came out, we were all a little disappointed then.

pretty much because if i fry the card doing it i lose money not them theyll eventually get a card that is running at its peak....and after a couple id have a feel for how the cards take to clocks so its not like every card would have to be 1mhz at the time.

btw update just tried 828/2020/2200...ya it doesnt like 2ghz shader ill try to make it exactly 2 hopefully its only unstable by a couple few...but after if this doesnt work ill bench at 1950 if that holds ill leave it and work on the me more....this is actuaklly pretty impressive....i can feel the potential though with a volt mod....ooo my fluke meter and hands are twitching...at any rate....card spacific update it hasent gone over 66ºC but my case is open...i can tell you now youll want a full tower case its cramped in a mid tower..and though the temp is stable its because it bleeds alot my room is an oven right now and its rediculous.

go into riva tuner....ok find the rivatuner.cfg file right click and click open...select pic from a list and choose notpad...after it opens up scroll down and find the line G92 if you copy G92 that i just typed and hit ctrl+f and enter it it should be the first line that shows up....any way following G92 will be an = sign followed by a bunch of variables.....it will look something like this

G86 = 420h-42Fh (that of course is the G86 line....

now that you see it replace those variables with these

610h-622h


so after your done it should look like this

G92 = 610h-622h


than save and try to boot up riva tuner again that should work hope that helps :)

what settings you playing at?

also mean driver settings, if you have AA on, well DONT, unless u can use temporal AA its not worth it in crysis on an ati card currently.

also please done base all your feelings about your card on crysis, as stated b4 its a very poorly optimized game at the moment, ati and nvidia and crytech are all working to get better perf on current systems out of it, give it a month of 2 and u should start seeing some improvement.

i have crysis, its sitting here unplayed because its so damn buggy/slow even on my 8800gt(720/1795/2100)pisses me off to be honest....glad it was a gift from a friend and not something i payed for.

Hey Solaris, I bought my 9600gt 3 days ago, been playing with settings..but I keep crashing..

I have a 500watt P/S, with a dedicated PCI-X rail for my card...when i run CS:S (Counter Strike: Source), i get like 250FPS, for about 3 seconds then the card crashes.

Are you running into any heat/power issues with the card?

nvm, i see your power supply on your prof. Anyone else get the card and having issues with it? - i scoured my machine for all remnants of nvidia stuff and removed...reinstalled all drivers....

I can play Hellgate fine, cs 1.6 find, but cs:s..crash, I pulled all graphics settings to Low, and it will run for an hour before crashing..

Solaris is using an alpha driver suite for his card from w1zzard. I believe that is where your problem lies... To hard to really say since the card isn't suppose to be out yet... Well for me at lease

no no power issues i had at first but im using the 2molex-1 6pin for right now tunrs out i was drawing from the same 1 raill...i have it junctoning power from 2 rails now...also check the amps on your psu it demands at least 26amps on an unused 12v rail. also what druivers are u using?

ya the recall in itself may be fake but the 9600 did have a voltage problem and nvidia told the oem's how to fix it so they may be doing a recall but nobody has really reported a recall...and the inquirer is well....

why not just get a 5000 BE CPU and overclock it? Wouldn't that be less of a bottleneck then your CPU you have now?

idk candle...ill think about it but i atleast need enough cash to buy a cheap proc and mobo.....im already pretty sure im not going to get anyware with this whole thing because i know my parts are used and thus must sell for less...and if i give my mobo away for 35 their is no way i can pull enough $$ out of my @$$ with my proc to get a new mobo and proc. but ill keep you in mind candle if your still intrested at the time.

Yes, sorry for this gap, it was just for illustrate that in sprite of GPU generation, CPU are delayed on GPU's needs.
When I see that a middle range card as 8800GS/9600GT need an high end CPU ... not a real level association. :shadedshu

those are the 3 best options imo...i like xfx they have a life time warrenty and their cards have awsome performance i like BFG cause they have a life time warrenty and customer service is really nice....and i like evga because they have the step up program( i have a 9600 if i want a 9800 i give them my card and pay the diff for a new one) and its wicked easy to RMA with them.

Unfortunately, my FireGL-X3 is not working on this mainboard. Since it is DESIGNED for OpenGL, the results would be interesting. Anyway, the results here are also nice for a AGP system using DDR RAM. Mainboard: Conroe865PE :toast:

I am STUNNED that the OpenGL performance of the nVidia 8600 and 9600 series is so poor. My old X800SE is beating them! :nutkick:
