:)Hello
I search infos on memory chips used on 7900 GS Palit.
This manufacturer use Samsung 1ns chips on 8800 GS. Did they used these chips on the 7900 GS 512 ?

I highly doubt they used 1ns chips on a 7900GS. My guess would be 1.2ns, but the best way to find out is to take the heatsink off and look at the chips themselves.

look at the memory chips on the card ant it will say which brand and number they are.
"The memory on this particular model of card is 1.4ns Samsung memory rated for around 714Mhz (1428Mhz DDR) which is faster at its stock speed of 1320MHz than the memory chips on the 7800GT giving this card an immediate advantage in speed"

Thanks for all ;)
I'll take off the heatsink whan i'll put the 7900 GS on my new PC to compare with my 8800 GS.
Yes, you have to look at the memory chips.
Salut, bienvenue a TPU :)
Took French last year :) I bet it doesn't actually make much sense in French... but you get the pciture.

Merci pour cet accueil, ça me fait plaisir de lire un peu de la langue de Molière en ces pages ;)
Seriously, i've took off the heatsink and saw 8 chips qimonda HYB18H512321af-xp.
After a little google search, it seams to be 1.2ns chips which take 800Mhz ( 1600 effective ).
I was @700 ... it could be up ;)
Don't forget about v-mods :)
Ah, and also... in English, it's Gigabyte (GB) not GO. Same for MB... which is probably MO for you. Just thought I'd share that. And don't be afraid to overclock the E6750, they manage 3GHz easy. In fact I bet with whatever cooler you're getting to replace the stock cooler, you can run 400*8 (may or may not need additional voltage) which would be 3.2GHz, 1600MHz rated FSB, and you can run your RAM at DDR800 with that 1:1 ratio... or you can overclock that too if you want. Just a suggestion.

Thanks a lot for your infos :nutkick:
For Go ---} GB, it's OK now ;):o
I pushed my CPU @ 2.8 this afternoon ( FSB 350, HT 1400 ) ... rock and roll !!
But @ 3.2GHz, not booting ( RAM @ DDR800 ) ...
May be the PSU :shadedshu
I've fixed the PCI-E @100 and switched off the C1E.
The memory turs 420Mhz ( 840 effective ) and run stable.
Strange i can't boot Windaube ( " Winshit " in english ;) ) 400 FSB nor 375 !
EDIT : i resolve the problem ... my RAM was on " 1T " mode in bios ;)
That's perfect now @ 3.2GHz ( 400/1600 ... RAM synchro @ 800MHz ).
I'll try pushing my 7900 GS 512 on it :D

Very cool!!
My Gainward is almost identical!
And yep it's got Samsung 1.2ns chips.
Just a couple more caps on mine that are differant
It appears that I only have 1.2v avaiable in BIOS to use also, darn!

Mine is different of the Palit picture : the capasitors are not solid ones : so it's the same yours :)
Memories are Qimonda 1.2ns. I've not extract the bios and put a look on it yet.
What's your risers for on your card ? May be a solution fixing a hood with fan hole to guide hot hair exhaust ;)

There 3 hex stud's tapped on both ends, and a tab thats on the pci land to hold the screen "cover".
http://img.techpowerup.org/080224/Capture125.jpg
The stock fan didn't do squat for cooling, and nothing for rear exhausting!, so I've tried this 92mm, another 80 Tt Smartfan 2, and even a Scythe Kaza 120.
Theres no 1 step soulution for cooling my card because of the HSI chip, but it seem's that the true PCI cards, has a fair selection, and even some for rear exhaust.
I modded the V6000+ with 2 of the Scythe Kaza 3000rpm 120's, but have them volted all the way down, so I have a fairly positive pressure, and the rear exhaust picks up the heat off the top[bottem]
So as for the cap's, I take it that I/we have a "good" setup??

The 120mm fan is so big on this card !
The MoBo did not felt in love with this monster on its chips
yeah the 120mm looks a bit excessive really, a high speed 92/80mm fan will suffice adequately. the 7900GS isn't even THAT hot as i remember. good value tho :D

Yes, especially the fan axis has not to be just on the GPU which is the hot spot of the heatsink ( no wind on the fanaxis ;) ).
An error lot of ppl makes :(
A deck with 2 80mm fans ( some Papst low noise ) may increase heatsink perf.
But i see fan's price and compares with Zalman VF700 Al-Cu or 900 Cu ... i doubt real interest of Do It Yourself solution :wtf:
yeah 2x80mm fans together with the join over the center of the heatsink would be best, i know what you mean about the deadspot in the middle, not everyone realizes that.

This modding cost may be higher than an aftermarket solution with better target results.
The Zalman heatsinks offer a memory cooling solution too.
Whith DIY solution, we've just a better stock heatsink ( but with supply stage cooling ) .

Correct, if you look closely, I have it shifted to the bracket so as to have the pressure over the core, and to the edge so that the ram chips get the static pressure also.
Since it's just rubber bands i have to readjust after every install
FWIW, this card has ALOT of heat from the backside, mainly because of the "coverplate" and spring lacth for the H/S retenion.
If it wasnt due to the HSI chip, I'd toss another setup on there.
Next time we run some .250 copper busbars at work, i'm gonna pick me up a 3x3 and mill a baseplate to fit the HSI/GPU/Ram and prolly try to adapt a Tt Tidewater to it.
The Tt 92mm was the best compromise for cooling vs. noise.
Kaza, didnt make any differance, and the 80mm Tt Smartfan2 was too noisy[3.5k+rpm mostly needed to run almost maxed 4800-5200rpm] for the same cooling #'s

Amazing heatsink
its huge heavy and also cools the ram which it completely covers
check your core on the 7900GS you might be able to flash it up to a 7900GT (extra 4PP/1ROP)

Thanks for the info.
Another info to identify which version 7900GS could be flashed ?

use rivatuner to unlock the pipelines/rop check to see if they actually enable (ie. run 3dmark b4 and after) if its all good flash it to a palit 7900GT

I had edited my pipelines with Riva Tuner, reboot and ... GPU-Z said me 20 pixel / 7 vertex !
How can I control if they're all in activated ( 24/8 ) ?
NB : Riva Tuner still show me the " dead " quad pixel and the the " dead " vertex ( on " 1 " on upper line ) are desactivated :banghead:
EDIT : @ 550/750 i've artefacts in ATi tool
... So bad GFX card ...

Man theres gotta be a glicth somewhere. Any chance for a return/exchange?
Can you try FUR and see if the core will go higher?
I set my Bliss to 690 and was able to get thru.
Some reason it will core like crazy for OpnGL, but gotta back down to 665/650 for 3d apps.
but yes it dont like it for a long time, 620/1600 will run 3-4 3dm06's back to back.
I did notice that if I run a high FSB[220-222] my mem dont like to set at 1600, unless it's a fresh cold start, but when using 216-218, the mem likes 1600, BUT, that is pretty much max for mem either way.
Mabey it's just because mine is AGP w/HSI chip, idunno.
Hats off to Gainward thou, this is a really awesome card, even @ 20/20/7 :rockout:
Hopefully theres a way to get you up the ladder with youre's

A little run on 3DM06 to test my first rig : 4416 points ... ridiculous ... when i see what an actual midrange card can do !!!
My 8800GS O/C catch 11592 points on the same test !
I'll to try this card on my new rig :)

I tried another frequencies on my card : 600/750.
It runed on Ati tools during 7minutes without artefacts before going wrong
I tried @ 600/735 and it runed perfectly :D
Bencing on 3DM06, i did :
- 3650 points @ stock.
- 4416 points @ 550/700
- 4684 points @ 600/735 :rockout:
I'm very far of my 11592 points on my new rig :twitch:

Do me a favor, and post/look at just the video score[both cards if avaiable] for SM2 and SM3.
i only get about 8xx score for cpu, but vid is really strong!!!!

I'll try my 7900GS on my new rig too ... just need free time :D
I've just upgrade my new rig ( 15 days after built it :twitch: ) : PSU, 2GB RAM more, new coolers for CPU and GPU, new CPU and RAM O/C.
The CPU bottleneck must be out @ 3.4GHz CPU ( with the 7900GS ... for the 8800GS, it's another fight  ).
